Absolutely worth the money. Amazing upscaling with no perceivable lag, and tons of customization options. Yes this is more expensive than the el cheapo upscalers, but it's about the same price as what a good PVM goes for nowadays.I have been playing my old game systems on RGB monitors for years. I used to really worry about what I was going to do when my monitors died off, especially considering how much the price of a Sony PVM has risen in the last couple of years. Running your systems through a Framemeister with the scanlines turned on really does a great job of replicating the RGB monitor experience. I am going to continue to use my monitors as long as I have them, but I am no longer worried about what I am going to do when the monitors die. This coupled with an Elgato Game Capture HD or HD 60 is also an excellent way to record gameplay footage for YouTube at the highest possible quality. That's mainly what I use it for.

Does absolutely wonderful and what it's supposed to do. Although pricey, if you're serious about getting the best possible image out of your old systems via RGB Scart, then this is for you. Only downside is that it does NOT come with the proper RGB scart adapter, it comes with a JP21 adapter. If you have EUROSCART, it will not be compatible. Just take note and buy the proper adapter. Also you will need to do some calibration and setup if you're really picky on how the image looks. One last thing, the menu and controller is in Japanese... so get the proper firmware to convert the framemeister menu to English (plenty of tutorials online, very easy) with the controller, there are overlays that you can buy... or you can just look up the controller online in English. Other than that... it may seem like a lot but it really isn't. Worth every penny

What's not to love? It takes your older consoles and upscales them to play on your newer LCD TV's. It is basically a CRT TV in a box. Please note that while the device is great and add value to your older retro consoles, it still has some investments that need to be made after you buy it. 1. You will need to update the firmware with the english version found here: [...]2. On top of that this unit comes with a JP21 cable to go into the RGB port in the front. This is remedied by ordering an adapter from here: You must buy this accessory if you do not have Japanese consoles. This for systems like the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, SNES, Sega Saturn, and Dreamcast. This includes RGB Scart which was not used here in the US, but was prevalent in the UK. Some consoles like the SNES don't play well with RGB Scart and might need to be modded to accommodate it.They also sell the RGB scart cables if you cannot find them on Amazon. 3. It has D-Terminal connection that was used in Japan, but no component cable input. There is a D-Terminal to Component adapter found here: [...] Regardless of these issues it has been the best sleepy purchase I have made on this site.

I'm not a big enough aficionado of games, it seems, to appreciate this. A $20 part made my games look almost as good as this $383 piece. I thought this would make my games look superb, but instead they're just OK. There are lots of modes and such (all in Japanese), but nothing seems to make the games look like I'd hoped.Instead I choose whether I want scan lines or not, and whether I want a stretched image or not. If you aren't someone who notices the spacing between lines and minute details like that, go for something cheaper. Or get a CRT TV.

Delivered at 5:05 PM....boxed and back at the UPS store at 6:18. Device is utterly useless when there is a pin stuck in the RGB-In port. What a waste of time.

A little pricy (paid $341), but I picked up one of these to use with my childhood NES, SNES, and N64. I didn't want to mod my consoles so am just using an RCA connection for the NES, and I imported 2 Nintendo brand Gamecube S-video cables from Japan for the SNES, and N64. For me it was well worth it to eliminate input lag while gaming on these consoles. Out of the box it was easy to set up after a firmware update, and making a couple adjustments to the settings as recommended by My Life in Gaming over on YouTube. It has a lot of options in the settings to mess around with if you like tweaking the video quality, or experimenting. If you don't have a CRT TV (or extra room for one like me), and want to get an optimal picture while eliminating input lag I'd recommend getting one of these.**Update 2/21/17** Micomsoft is discontinuing this product due to the chipset for it no longer being manufactured. You can get on a back order list at Solarisejapan.com to get one for MSRP instead of paying a reseller some insane price. Rumors are there will likely be a successor, but it may not be out for some time.

Bought this back in 2015 when it was around the $200 mark, and it's the best $200 I've spent for my retro game consoles. One fantastic feature I don't see a lot of people mention is it's ability to convert PAL signals just fine. I love my Commodore PAL systems, and my Amiga CD32 now I don't have to worry about what I'm going to do when my PVMs eventually die.For $400 though it's had for me to recommend honestly. You have get a decent PVM for that price, a 14" immediately, or if you're patient and hunt a 20".In the end the Framemeister is a great device but for the right price.
