Amazon.com

Designed for the serious woodworker, the Freud 99-518 Quadra-Cut - 3-1/2 Inch Dia. Cove Profile Raised Panel 3/4-Inch Stock Router Bit - 1/2-Inch Shank features a non-stick Perma-Shield coating and Freud's patented Quadra-Cut design for a smoother finish that requires no rework. Quadra-Cut employs four cutting blades, rather than the industry standard of two, allowing you to create raised panels for doors and paneling and produce decorative tops, plaques, and molding. Because it's constructed with Freud's exclusive TiCo Hi-Density Carbide MicroGrain material, this durable router bit is designed to last.

Quadra-Cut Design for a Consistently Clean Finish
The exclusive Quadra-Cut design uses four cutters for a flawless finish. This innovative cutter design works by utilizing two of the cutters for an upward cutting action, while the other two cutters simultaneously cut downward. The result is an amazingly smooth finish that requires no rework.

Produce Smooth Paneling and Decorative Molding
Use the 99-518 Raised Panel Router Bit on any table-mounted portable router that accepts a 1/2-inch shank for creating professional-quality raised panels on doors and paneling, as well as decorative tops, plaques, and molding. The resulting panels will exhibit a glassy smoothness, even when you're tackling cross-grain applications.

The 99-518 features a 5/8-inch carbide height that easily accommodates stock measuring 3/4 inches.

Durable Design with Protective Coating to Resist Heat and Corrosion
Freud equips all of their router bits with their exclusive TiCo Hi-Density MicroGrain carbide for maximum durability and cutting life. In addition, Freud shields their bits from heat, rust, corrosion and wear by coating all of their Quadra-Cut Router Bits with their exclusive non-stick, red Perma-SHIELD coating.

The 99-518 Raised Panel Router Bit is 2-1/2 inches long with a 1/2-inch shank, an overall diameter of 3-1/2 inches, and a large radius of 1-1/2 inches. Freud cutting tools are backed by the Freud Limited Lifetime Cutting Tool Warranty to ensure customer satisfaction with every purchase.

This is an excellent cove profile bit. I have run many feet of curly cherry across it with zero tear out. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that I get a consistent light line or burning where the small cutter overlaps the main cutter. Suspect that it's because the wood being touched twice as often as the wood that is only being cut by the main cutter. The line is light and I am able to sand it out but it would be much nice if it wasn't there at all.

Another great router bit from Freud. I had to make some raised panel doors to match existing doors for an addition. I was able to run this on my Ryobi router table with the biggest router at Home Depot. Fast shipping, Great product

Three years ago, my company closed so I took a 30-year long hobby of woodworking to the streets. One of the things I learned early in this process is that having tools which consistently perform well is essential for meeting the quality and production standards of fussy customers. Lately, I have been busy making built-ins, and that means lots of custom raised panel doors. Simply said, this bit cuts with little effort, and does indeed produce a smooth finish along the end grain of the panel. I've used it on poplar (cuts that like butter) and maple so far, and the results are spectacular. I'm slowly working up to industrial grade equipment, so some of my tools are still hobby grade. I'm using a Dewalt 619 plunge router on a home made router table with a simple drop-in mounting plate. Since I don't have an adjustable lift, my only beef with this bit, and many others, is that the shaft is about 1/2:" shorter than I would like. Not really the bit's fault, but for some of you hobbyists out there, this may be an important consideration.

Okay, so definitely DO NOT DISREGARD THE SPEED RECOMDATIONS!! This thing made my whole 2'x6'- 4z4 bench shake and it sounded like a helicopter was taking off in my shop... in the end, gave an amazing cut and fit. Exactly what my customer wanted. Seriously though, check your router speed.
