Just depends on how you place it.Cool thing is once it fills up the receptacle/bucket or whatever the water flows into above the hose opening, the water stops flowing in so there is never any spillage.I found once the receptacle/bucket is full, then the humidifier's receptacle takes over until that is full, then machine shuts off.

As advertised this product works effectively at draining the dehumidifier. Impressed with the brass fitting and durable washer that makes for easy off and on when flushing and cleaning the drain hose. ðŸ‘

This is the one. Fits gravity outlet for Ivation 4,500 Sq. Ft Energy Star Dehumidifier. Should fit any Ivation dehumidifier, as connection is universal.Pros:*Nothing frustrating, which was greatly appreciated after other frustration related to the dehumidifier.*Hook up was perfect with no leaks. Yay!*Hose is very flexible with virtually no loop memory, which was easily straightened out*Seems to be quality material for something used inside the house*That a good 12 feet long hose is available for people who need to place dehumidifier farther away from a gravity drain. My sump pump is covered and sealed due to radon remediation.Cons:A bit pricey for 12' of hose, but I haven't bought any hoses for years, so may be out of the inflation loop.

Just a tip: the drain hose needs to be lower than the dehumidifier and have a place to drain. I put mine on a cabinet and the hose drains into the guest bathroom sink. Otherwise, skip the hose and empty the water directly from the dehumidifier. If you have an issue with lifting weight, I would recommend using the draining hose.

It leaks between the metal fitting of the hose and the collar you attach to your unit, meaning an internal leak having nothing to do with the connection, just a faulty product. So aggravating
