What Are Serrated Flanged Hexagon Nuts?

  • Serrated Flanged Hexagon Nuts are ideal for applications under vibration. The serrated flange prevents the nut becoming loose by biting into the surface of the mating assembly. Serrated Flanged Nuts can be used as an alternative to a Hexagon Nut and Anti-Vibration Washer, reducing the part count of the assembly. This approach is ideal when trying to achieve a value-engineered solution.
  • Flanged Hexagon Nuts, a non-serrated variant of this component, are also available.

Materials

  • Serrated Flanged Hexagon Nuts are available in A2 and A4 Stainless Steel as standard. Specialist finishes such as FullerKreg Chemical Matte Black Coatings are also available.

Use it to secure the end of six 8mm bolts on the rear wheel dropouts on a jumper bike. These are low profile enough so allows for enough clearance for hub on drive side and disc rotor on non drive side. OEM just had the 8mmx15 bolts, no nuts, but the bike takes too much of a beating so went with an 8mm x 20 bolt and these nuts instead, and now it feels like a way more solid set up.
