Purchased this pulley with a few rock-climbing fasteners.Do not need it to be crazy load-bearing, as it will be affixed to my hangboard for weighted exercises. It is rated at 24KN, which is pretty hardy, considering that 1 Kn is equal to 224.82 pounds. That means that this lil puppy will hold 4,496.2 pounds, equal to a medium-sized car.More than enough for what I will use it for.I saw some folks talking about using it for zip-lining.Ummmmmmm...it's aluminum. (A malleable metal).I wouldn't use anything without bearings for zip-lining.But, "Hey"...that's just my personal opinion. You can do whatever you want.Bottom line, it seems decently built, it is perfect for my intended usage, and the cost was fine.

Bought this almost 5 years ago and started using it immediately! Today it’s still working just as good as when I started using. Very durable product! A must buy

This pulley make it a hell of a lot easier to bring my big kites down. On a windy day my big kites can have pull exceeding 90lbs. I used to use a carabiner and manually pull down kites. With this the operation is smooth as butter. I can't believe that I didn't invest in one a lot sooner. Opening on the bottom can easily fit 3-4"length carabiner. Anything bigger than that it's a little challenging to get it on. Pulley works very well.I highly recommend this unit to big kite fliers out there. I don't personally use the pulley for climbing so I can't really comment on how it works for that purpose.

WARNING: The following review contains some humor. Read at your own risk...Now, before you completely loose your mind over a "failed" piece of climbing gear and start shaming every climber who has ever purchased one of these (yea, we all know how climbers be...), I should clarify that the bearings failed so it no longer spins freely. That means the rope would still need to pass threw the axle and aluminum base before one could free-fall.Good:-Price. You can get three of these for the price of one average quality pulley.-It can save a friendship. If your top-roping friend drops one from 16.5 inches onto a pebble, you don't need to blow your stack and lecture him/her for hours on micro-fractures. Just mark it 'out of service' and grab another. We all know how much you spend on your pre-climb Organic, Soy, Stevia-sweetened, Sexagintuple Vanilla Bean Mocha Frappuccinos.Bad:-They have poor quality-control-They bearings are apparently poorly sealed and can easily bind-This will likely happen the day after your Amazon return policy expires.(Amazon also wanted me to rate the "Stretch" and "Sheerness." It's Aluminum for crying out loud--so it don't stretch much at all. As for the Sheerness, it's nothing like "sheer" undies, and it's a long ways from Sheerness England. I'd try it on one of my sheep but I'm afraid it would just snag her wool and tick her off.)I hope you find these reviews helpful. I try to regularly post meaningful reviews with a splash of humor to break up the monotony. Stay safe!

As with many others who have provided feedback, this pulley seized up almost immediately. I had 70 lbs on it and after pulling the rope three times, it locked up. I couldn't even rotate it with my fingers. A little WD-40 helped a little, but not much. If the bearings were as good as the frame it would be a great pulley, but that's not the case.
