Decided to use this to take out a turkey this year with my crossbow (Stealth XLT). The only problem is that there was enough kinetic energy left in the arrow that it passed through the turkey's neck, and disappeared into the earth/thatch. I thought the head would keep the arrow more or less "above ground" as it caught the thatch, but no dice. The head itself has a beveled edge on the "wings" which acts as an additional cutting head. So whatever you're shooting this thing at, it will destroy it. I don't know how well it would work on squirrels... but I'm guessing it will rip the snot out of them. I would probably use this on larger rabbits, or even coyote sized animals but nothing smaller than those and most likely would go for head/neck shots due to the destructive nature of them.In hindsight, you could probably use this with a lower pound bow, either with traditional or an older compound bow.

yeah i know, everywhere else in the world calls them ground squirrels, but in wyoming they are chizlers. and nothing is as exciting and fun to shoot with your bow than chiz...well, besides carp, or rabbits, or elk, or deer, or antelope. the point is, it is fun to shoot them. and until now, you got mixed feelings when you heard the whump! of your judo point on a squirrel. woohoo i am awesome! mixed with hmmm, i should have packed some extra gloves for removing the little bugger from my arrow. now you get some hard hitting power, with less muss on your hands. these are pricier than the judo and dont stand your arrow up as well in the grass, but you get your hands less nasty. i approve!update 1/28/2015: i am seeing that this review was helpful to only 3/6 people. i am curious as to what those other 3 were looking for? i shoot standard diameter gold tip xt hunters and expedition hunters with the gold tip inserts and these tips fit in perfectly. they are, as i mentioned above, pricier than judo points. i used to swear by the judo and i always carried at least one in my quiver because you never know when you will wanna shoot something in the grass. i still have quite a few of those, but i think that i now prefer the SGH due to the cleaner arrow recovery and the prongs dont hang up on things as much as the springs tend to.

These heads are great! It often gets boring just practicing on a target and these heads allow me to walk around and hunt small game and better fine-tune my skills. They never penetrate the ground, laying perfectly on top of ground. Never lose an arrow. Very effective on small game also. Watch hitting stones or stumps though, will destroy your arrow if hit just right.

I have been using this product for about 6-8 months and have got a good feel for it. I really wanted to rate higher but a big reason I bought this was durability, which it has but not the amount that I would like. Also they advertise groundhogs and I have shot two ground hogs and it just bounces off them and they run away to live another day.Accuracy: Its generally accurate. It doesn't always fly the same but not a major issue once you feel it out. I normally hit squirrels and rabbits at 30-40yds.Lethality: This broadhead will tear whatever it hits the size of a rabbit and smaller. There is not much mercy but its important to get a good shot. Due to small game being... well small, its a little harder to get a clean accurate shot that will put it down but where ever you put that broadhead, it will tear through.Durability: This is the heavy hitter. I hated buying broadheads that were a "one and done" especially for small game. This met some expectations and not others. It will keep going hitting dirt and flesh. It doesnt stop. Moment you hit a tree, which is common hunting squirrels, you are praying to get that broadhead back in one piece. Its a toss up really. I have had the broadhead hitting trees last longer than the arrow in some situations and others, it hits one tree branch and a piece breaks off. However, I have still used it with a small piece broken off and it still does its job. It has good durability but I wish it would hold its ground a little better and more consistently.Overall good product and good price. Just hope they make it a little more durable in the future.

I was using a grim reaper broadhead to take out racoons that would attack our chickens. It was devastatingly quick, however I would lose my arrow so often, as it would slice right through and keep going with full power. A friend suggested the SGH.I took the first racoon last night with it... Really close shot (Less than 10 feet with a 150lb crossbow). It entered into the neck and tore through to the lungs and was a quick, devastating and humane kill... but the arrow did not go through, so I don't have to worry about where it went. The SGH transferred all the energy of the shot into the coon, for an efficient kill.My chickens are safe, it was quick for the coon, we keep the furs, and my dogs get a new meat in their food for a 2 weeks so--- everyone wins (well, the coon was given mercy).

Slices through the meat cleaner than your average small game broadhead.Didn't give it five stars because they're a bit pricey.

Not too bad for a cheaper small game head. They really rip and tear which makes for a quick kill. The only downside I’ve found is that occasionally one of the blades will crack and break off if they hit even a tough patch of dirt or stick. This has happened on two of the heads I’ve owned as well as two of my buddy’s. They still fly perfectly fine and kill, just a point to make.

I actually really like the tip, what I didn't like was that I only got 1 in a package. I'm used to seeing 3 in a pkg at the archery store for about $15 so I thought this was the same...NOT.
