Picture used for 4' of 3/16" says 1,500lbs working load (WLL), and 3,000lbs breaking (MBL), whereas package insert I got for 4' 3/16" says 750WLL and 1,500 MBL. In other words they are exaggerating the strength of this chain and shackles by a factor of 2x.Frankly this is not an issue for me I am using this chain as a section at anchor to set an anchor, not to lift a personal watercraft in the air. But I really do not like it when a maker or seller just throws higher numbers than reality out there without care. Also the bow shackle that came with mine is thinner than chain, my when specs should have them same or heavier. Literally the "weakest link" is a shoddy shackle. Then there is the issue of value/cost vs what you can get in any hardware store for 4' of galvanized 3/16 plus two (proper) shackles.Value: so-so.

This review is for the nchor Chain Stainless Steel Anchor Chain or Galvanized Boat Anchor Chain, Anchor Chains for Boats, Stainless Anchor Chain, Double Boat Anchor Shackle Link Ends Marine Grade 3/16" 1/4" or 5/16" Width.I was able to grab a couple of these chains with shackles in different sizes just to have them on hand around the house for whatever might come up. I find them to be of good heavy weight and suitable for many uses. Welded shut links on the chains and double threaded on the bolt shackles.Unfortunately I do not have a boat to use them with currently, but I grew up on a farm and these would have been perfect to use for an anchor in the small row boats we used for fishing in our lake. As it was back then we just used a rope tied to a half cinder block when we needed an anchor LOL.Don't see anything wrong with these, and they come in a formed plastic package so nice small and easy to store. When I stack these VS the regular price $19.99 per the listing I think they are a great buy for this galvanized heavy weight chain/shackles. There is also a $1 off coupon right now.As always I only do honest reviews and will update if needed. I hope this helps you make the best choices how to spend your $.

I spent 24 years on the coast of South Carolina. Spent lots of time in boats large and small. I also spent 26 years in the merchant marines so I know anchors and chains. If you need a 4’ anchor chain at a reasonable price this is a good one. But I didn’t order it for an anchor. I ordered it to use as a utility chain for my Kawasaki Mule. That’s a four wheel utility vehicle. Think very small truck. I needed a chain for pulling large branches and fallen trees. This chain is perfect. I wrap a strap around the tree, hook the chain to the strap, and away we go. There’s a limit of course but this chain will hold up to anything the Kawasaki will pull. I like very much that it comes with a shackle at both ends. The grade of chain is very good and you’ll be hard pressed to break it pulling anchor. Mine is galvanized so It will stand up well to salt water but if I was going to use it in salt water I’d opt for the slightly more expensive stainless steel. My opinion is it’s a good chain at a good price and is fully up to the job it advertised to do. I would recommend it.

I picked this up for my anchor to help knock it loose from snags and help prevent the anchor rope from chafing on structure. It works as it should, has good welds on the the links and thick galvanizing for lasting corrosion resistance. The chain is heavy duty and plenty strong enough to hold an anchor and a boat, plus it has enough weight to help knock the anchor loose. It's an anchor chain and it does it's job perfectly.

We got this chain to replace the chain we had on our anchor. And I am impressed! These chains are HEAVY! Which is what you want for your anchor. The chain hasn’t rusted and has been used more than 5 times this year. We’ll get more use out of as the weather keeps getting warmer. Very easy to install on our anchor and easy to pull up. Very sturdy and very durable. Highly recommend!
