I wanted a straight digging fork, instead of the common curved-tine style that is more like a rake. This one does a good job. It has a strong head/shank combo so it seems less likely to break off the handle, which is smooth wood. Simple and efficient, neat styling, hangs up easily, and digs in well because it's sharp. Very satisfied.

Turning up the garden. Wanted something sturdy. Got it. Everything about this fork is strong and well made. Not your average punny fork. This is ment for serious gardeners. Look forward to many years of productive work.

This gardening fork is pretty sturdy, and good for most soil. I tried it in our garden and it worked great, and on some plants that hadn't been tended in awhile, it worked well also....but when you get to the hard soil (we have clay) you should take more care to keep from bending the tines. I pushed it in and applied some pressure just to see what it would do on a large weed in dry soil, and I could feel the tines start to bend. If you encounter hard soil I would recommend you use the tines to cut up and break it up the soil first and don't try to pry up roots.

You have a tree that was planted in the wrong place? Need to be replanted after 5-6 years? Well this is just a tool for that! I had a 5-6-year-old pear that was not producing because it was shaded by larger trees. I used this heavy duty digging fork to free the roots and replant it last winter. Tree survived the move! So did a Japanese maple that my husband and I fostered after previous owners decided it was no longer needed in their back yard!Love this durable handy tool!

I got this after reading reviews, thinking it would be more durable than the cheap fork I'd gotten at a hardware store and used for years before the wood handle broke. Unfortunately the weld on this broke after less than 3 months when I caught a tree root while planting. I didn't give it a ton of force that should have broken anything, just gave it one push like I would digging any hold (I use a fork where the soil is rocky) and it just snapped. The inside of the break showed rust all around, which means water had gotten in and then sat in that pocket. This was stored indoors, either in my garage or my vehicle; it never just sat outside. But I live in the Pacific Northwest, so as a landscaper I have to work in the rain regularly, and clearly this tool is not designed to be used in rainy weather if water can get in and rust out the weld joint so easily. If you're never gonna work in the rain, I'm sure it'll last you longer than it did me, but I'm very disappointed.
