I recently acquired a mini bike with a Predator 212cc engine that was not running. Before I tear into it to get it going, I wanted to gather some parts I may need so that I can keep the project moving once I get started. My Predator engine has the OEM fuel tank mounted on it. A problem I have with this setup is that the fuel tank cap is exactly underneath, and very close to, the two horizontal frame rails. This makes it difficult to remove the gas cap and also requires me to use a funnel to get gas in the tank. Also, one of the things that I plan on doing is to convert from the centrifugal clutch to a torque converter. From the research that I have done, I know that I will have to use come kind of riser plate to raise the engine up for torque converter clearance. However, I am pretty sure that with a riser in place, the OEM fuel tank will no longer have enough clearance to fit under the upper frame rails. So, I felt that this fuel tank mount would be a good solution to my problem. The mount comes with hardware and appears to be pretty sturdy. It is made from 3mm (about 1/8 inch) thick steel. It has a gloss black finish that appears to be powder coat. There is one spot where the finish is uneven, but it is on the underside so it really does not bother me.The Amazon listing indicates that the mount has provision to install a fuel pump but, since the tank is still above the carburetor, a pump should not be needed as long as the law of gravity is still in effect. This mount is made to fit the Predator 212 hemi engine only and the Amazon listing has some good verbiage and photos that show the difference between he hemi and non-hemi versions of this engine.I have not installed this mount on my engine yet, but I fitted a fuel tank leftover from my grandson’s quarter midget racing days to the mount. I was able to attach it securely with two large hose clamps. I am pretty sure this mount will get the job done for me.
