This is one of the few somewhat innovative microwaves currently available. It cooks food much faster than would be expected, has a modern design with terrifically quick one-touch cooking buttons for cook times of 1-6 minutes, and is sturdily made. The sensor feature seems promising.ThIs GE microwave’s four-speed exhaust fan is powerful, and its dual lights help see what you are cooking on the stove very well. It would be nice if there were an extra-quiet exhaust fan mode, but the low setting’s whooshing sound is OK, and this thing does a great job minimizing smoke and odors when I’m frying chicken or fish. The high and boost modes are impressive! The only downsides are that (a) the exhaust fan is loud, even it its lowest setting. And (b) my contractor said installation was a bit tricky. I think it needs to be mounted both at the back and at the top, unlike just at the back like most models. He figured it out.Based on my reliable experience with an older GE microwave over 10+ years, I expect this Consumer Reports-recommended microwave to provide many years of hassle-free, convenient service.

GE Model we replaced cost lest and had more bells and whistles.Only 1 light underneath for stovetop. No light auto mode as nightlight inside dark color is gorgeous but interior is dim lighting due to dark interior walls. Cool no handle but temperamental on catching if not pushed from center no soften option. Love to go back. But very sharp looking

Received it with body damage, microwave non operational. Does not turn on AT ALL, door does not shut on the top half, light is on inside all the time and overheating. Zero stars!!!!!Update: making it a 4 star.I received the replacement unit with some shipping issues. It works great. Heats up the food fast. The controls are pretty intuitive. So why 4 stars? The inside is dark grey. It's hard to see dirt on it and I really keep my microwave spotlessly clean inside. Call it OCD.Also, the control buttons are hard to push, you have to nail them exactly in the middle.Overall: so far so good.

My old Microwave. (same model) and 4 years old stopped working. I loved everything about it so I ordered a new one. I did this as it is not too complicated to use, cooks well, and cleans well! I am happy I did so. Unfortunately, the life span of so many electrics have gotten so much shorter, but I love the G.E. Profile Line so took that route again.

The best things about this microwave are that it puts out a lot of energy so things heat quickly, and the appearance of the full-width door is rather impressive. After that, I'm not impressed. The exhaust fan works pretty well, but nothing like a real range hood, even on the highest setting. Still, it works better than most and is relatively quiet for an exhaust fan. The over-stove light works very well in the high setting and has a low setting that might be a good night light. There is an "Add 30 Seconds" button but no +10/-10s buttons for quick addition/subtraction of time. There are 5 buttons that will start up 1 through 5 minute quick start cycles. Nice, but I rarely cook anything at 100% for more than 1 minute. Because of that, you cannot put in a time and just push start. Each time you must push the time button, enter the time (and optionally the power level), then push start. Minor, but I like simple.I think the oven is OK, but controls and software are not convenient and sometimes annoying. One annoyance is that it thinks it is smarter than the human operator. If you put something in the oven temporarily (to heat up later), when you come back, set the time, and push start it will give you a message that you need to put food in before it will start up. Really?!?! So you must dutifully obey the machine by opening and closing the door then start over. It also won't remember a setting if you put it in and walk away without starting it; you come back to a blank screen. With my old, less expensive microwave, I could set up a vegetable for cooking, put it in the microwave, set the timer and cycle percentage (power level), then ask someone to start it for me while I'm standing outside at the grill cooking the steaks.
