I never use the 80 lb 50A cord that came with the trailer. I’ve always used the 30A when available so when my ATS started giving me trouble (and it will) I bought a new 30A automatic transfer switch. It is important that if you changed to the 30 amp automatic transfer switch you have to change the inlet plug on the side of your rig also. When you’re wiring the automatic transfer switch, the wiring that comes from the fuse box has four wires. You have two hot leads one neutral and one ground wire. You have to combine both hot leads inside the transfer box make one lead to the hot side.. Once you do this, you can’t take a chance with the inlet plug because if you use it bad things will happen so it’s just good insurance replace it at the same time. There’s like 10 feet from the inlet plug to the transfer switch and it also has four wires.. the problem arises when they are eight gauge waters and a 30 amp transfer box is made for 10 gauge so I used the single bus bar on all three wires to the coach and then took a jumper 10 gauge and attached it to the switch so you have to combine the hot legs to make them one hot and then just reduce the water size to 10 gauge the same with the neutral and hook it up . It was a pain yes. The 30 amp pigtail side is a twist lock and then you go to your typical 30 amp and for the male and which is one hot lead one neutral and one ground. So that’s what you have to do if you have a 50 amp coach and a 30 amp transfer switch.. if you’re looking for a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter pigtail this is not the product. But they do make one that powers both hot legs. I also replace the inlet plug to 30A I took my time so it took about 4 hours but it’s bullet prof and safe. Ty dt
