The cables cannot handle much resistance. I used this to try to start my '78 Cadillac. Turned out the engine was seized. But, as soon as I pushed the button, the wires in the switch began to cook and fuse together. The starter was engaging the siezed flex plate and drawing current. Before I could even react, the switch started smoking and was stuck on. Had to grab some pliers and rip the clip off the battery. This tool is a waste of money (and dangerous) if you have a large and/or siezed engine.

Clips on the wire ends are not the best they can be hard to use in tight spots slippery to use

Switch works fine and the alligator clips were the right size for my application the downside is the leads are too short. I used the same gauge wire and added about 16 inches to the leads so I could use it regardless where I was standing around the front of the car. {1971 Chrysler Newport]
