This comes with batteries, but you must open the battery bay to remove anti-discharge tape. The cover for the battery bay uses #0 screws, (less than 2mm wide at the head) and I sure as hell didn't have a micro-screwdriver. I had to use a pointed old steak-knife tip. This was slow going. The screws are so small you need good eyesight to keep them from cross threading.Since you have to go through this job, use better batteries. The included ones are cheap Chi-Com ones. Get good brand-name AAA batteries (2 per unit) so they will last. I did not test these with moisture, I didn't want to wake up my neighbors. I may update this review when I learn if they warn of water intrusion.

The product would not detect leakages. The company did such a fuss to replace it that after 5-6 emails I made a decision to let it down. i'll never do business with these people again.

Perfect monitors. Sensitive but not prone to false alarms. Put them where you need them and go on with your life, if moisture occurs, they will let you know. Loud enough to get your attention quickly!

The battery compartment is held on with four tiny screws that are smaller than a #1 philips head screwdriver fits. Most people will not have a compatible screwdriver unless they happen to have a microdriver set for working on small electronics. Often, products like this come with a single mini-screwdriver for the purpose, but this did not. Fortunately, the batteries (probably) don’t need to be replaced often.This was the leak detector most similar to the discontinued X-Sense standalone leak detector that I could find. The X-Sense is very good.
