I liked the fact that the dose rate units can be change from uSv/h to mRem/h. Sadly, the cummulative dose display and the graph units cannot be changed. If my reading of the specs, the counter reads a max of 1000uSv/h. This equates to 100mRem/h. This is a good, low-dose counter that is more useable than the old surplus Civil Defense counters that were mostly the high-range disaster scaled (100 Rem/h). A low dose rate counter can be shielded with lead or steel to allow reading higher dose rates. Anyway, the counter responded satisfactorily to a low-range CS-137 check-source where I work. I achieved a reading of about 5 mRem/h, which was consistent with our local calibrated counter.At this price point, this is a good buy. I don't think you can build a counter with the surplus Russian or Chinese GM tubes for $60. This goes in my Nuke Disaster Bag. I'll probably buy another for my Bug Out Bag.Add the ability to change the cumulative dose units form uSv to mRem.Make the screen labels for the alarm function more clear.

This thing goes off randomly and inconsistently. Picked another brand up and it worked great. Don't buy this.

This detector can be used as a permanent event based watchdog for Radiation. It is easy to setup and runs with the press of a button. Different readings according to country specific measurements are possible. You can see the Real and Cumulated numbers at the same time. A little stand in the back lets you put the detector anywhere. You can run it on battery or permanently on a USB power source. Absolutely useful and a peace of mind to have it available. I also have to mention that it comes in a practical storage hard plastic box. I give the full five stars for it.

When it boots up, it says "Warning ediation"Definitely not programmed by someone who speaks English, but nevertheless it works.
