I noticed that one of my coil packs had oil in it when I was changing out my spark plugs and behold, there was oil in the well too. I recently did a valve cover job so I know it wasn't the valve cover. The rubber seal on the coilpack had swollen due to the heat of 1+ decades so it didn't seal as well. This was a direct replacement and now there is no more oil in the spark plug wells!
