These are strong and tapered. Nice cross stick sound and that whole cool wood vibe. Highly recommend these.

Excellent quality. I expect this product will work very well. I have not installed it yet, but I don’t expect to have any problems whatsoever.

Its does the job, but it's pricey. If I needed to buy another bass drum hoop, I would buy this one again.

Fit ludwig acrolite great, fun stick hits on rim. Great rim shots. Did not change the tone of the drum as noted by others in my research of wood rim drums. Only benefit is rim shots and hitting the wood. Did a before/after video and heard no difference in tone whatsoever. Rim shots are fantastic

this wooden snare hoop is rounded and will likely not chip easily. The tone on rim shots & stick over is richer. Exactly what I was looking for.

This is an update. From five stars down to two stars.Got this hoop (along with a resonant-side hoop from another seller) to upgrade my PDP Encore 14x5 snare. The snare was part of a fun kit rebuild a few years back, when I rewrapped it in maple veneer with a satin lacquer finish. This Gibraltar wood hoop almost exactly matches the finish, but most importantly, it sounded great.Yes, I used the past tense. Because after several days of tension on my snare, the hoop began de-laminating around one of the lugs. See my second photo. I suppose I could work some glue into the separated section and clamp it, but if this hoop's lamination integrity is compromised elsewhere, that'd only be a temporary fix.So I am returning it for a refund (I hope). I would prefer a replacement, but for some reason they didn't offer that ¯_(ツ)_/¯.For those of you who get a similar hoop for a similar snare, read on for my install adventure and the reason for my first photo ...Ran into one small glitch with the throw-off (see photo). For owners of a snare with a similar throw-off, the original tension knob was too tall to accommodate the hoop, even with the well-placed and generous thumb-cutout the hoop provides. Here are two solutions for that, without cutting a notch in the hoop. One is free, and the other is likely under ten bucks.THE FREE SOLUTION: If you have a spare tension rod for your snare, try replacing the throw-off tensioner with that. The threading may match. On my PDP Encore snare, the throw-off threading was the same as the DW true-pitch rods on my snare. If you don't mind the lack of a thumb-wheel, that's a quick, easy solution. You can always epoxy a knob to it later, if it bugs you.THE CHEAP SOLUTION: Find out what the threading is on your tensioner knob, and order a thumbscrew with a knurled plastic knob, available from sellers here. For instance, my DW tension knob (and true-pitch rod) was M5. I just happened to have a spare M5 thumb screw from different project, and it fit perfectly (that's the black-knobbed screw installed in the photo – I'm holding the original screw beside it).Other reviewers have noted challenges accommodating the throw-off, so you may want to measure and come up with a solution in advance. Hope this is helpful.

Worked very well with my Ludwig "the brick" snare. Added warmth and made it sound even better. The quality of the male hoop was perfect and the seller sent it asap. Not a single issue with my purchase.

This wood hoop works well on my snare drum. Better than I had hoped. I used it to replace an old Gretsch heavy duty die cast hoop that warped. Worked out well. I like the sound of the crack on the backbeat.

This was perfect for what I needed it for. Not a drum, but to complete a piece of art. The copper piece is quite large, and this drum hoop acts a perfect frame for it. Flexible, but strong .
