Does not fit a 288A700 lantern It is not big enough in diameter and height. About a 1/4" short in diameter and 1/2" short in height. You wont like the fit if you have a 288

The dimensions of the globe that fits a Coleman 288, and the 285, which I have, are 4 1/4" diameter and 4 1/2" height. The cracked globe I was replacing is the Coleman 214A0461, and its diameter is 4 3/16" with 4 1/2" inch height. But, the globe delivered is 4 1/16" outer diameter and 4 5/16" height--and it is about twice the thickness of the Coleman globe. It has a noticeable bulge in thickness at the top and bottom rims, which should further enhance the strength. It is solid and should be stronger and less likely to crack.I would rather see this lantern meet the dimensions in its listing, but more importantly, the dimensions of the Class 4 Coleman Globe. Being shorter and smaller in diameter mean that that globe rattles a bit in the lantern which might increase the risk of a crack, even with the lantern in a case.Overall, this globe seems to be built strongly but it is shorter and narrower diameter than it should be, and that it is listed to be. In spite of the smaller dimensions, this globe does fit inside the lantern; and seems relatively stable. If I could rate it as 3 1/2 stars, I would; it is better than 3 stars, but weak in terms of its fit in my lantern.
