Unpacking the machine was easy and the instructions for the minimal assembly were clear. I liked that they included two measuring spoons to get the proper amount of oil.I cleaned everything up, although it seemed pretty clean out of the box. I added the oil, turned on the heat for the pot; turned on the stirrer; and soon had delicious popcorn with only two kernels not popped.I have made a couple more batches and they have all been delicious.

We pop popcorn every week at work and this makes it so much easier. The flavor is great and it is easy to use in the table top popper that we use. Have ordered this brand for about 2 years now and will continue to do so!

UPDATED REVIEW AND RATING AFTER DEC 21, 2024:Apparently there was a problem with receiving their email responses to my many inquires for assistance. They don't have a phone number right now, which seem a bit odd. But I did receive the final email from them and there was several responses from them.Anyway I had purchased another great northern popper, Lincoln, once I returned this one. I did have a different problem with the second one - the old maids drawer wouldn't insert. Couldn't use it because it would only be a mess without that drawer being inserted. the last response from their support said that if I could bend the insides and bottom back so that the drawer could be inserted to go ahead and try. If that didn't work, I could still send it back. So after working on the problem, the drawer did finally slide in. It had been bent along the sides all the way back. What the heck happened to it? Anyway, the drawer inserts and it appears that everything is working. So I am keeping the Lincoln. I do like it better than the first one. Updated to 5 stars because not sure where the communication problem occurred but glad it all finally worked out.REVIEWS PRIOR TO DEC 21: I PURCHASED THIS ITEM A WEEK AGO AND CAN'T USE IT. We make popcorn 2 or 3 times a week. The last unit lasted 15+ years. They kettle and stirrer work perfect but the glass enclosure is too small. Make it another 6 inches wider in each direction and 5 stars for sure. It's too small and it's very easy to burn yourself and you spill popcorn out the unit when emptying the kettle. Why did you make it smaller???

Received timely as it arrived 2 days before anticipated and before my popping supplies which were all ordered at the same time. I was a little concerned about the condition of the unit after reading the reviews, but surprisingly it only had 1 small puncture on the side of the box, but it was packed extremely well and was received in pristine condition. It was also very easy to assemble the few pieces, like the stray kernel tray, glass and front tilt door and the pot. I have not used it yet but did test to make sure the warmer bulb, stirrer and kettle worked. It is really cute and the perfect size for a table top/makeshift bar area. I'm extremely pleased with my purchase.

My great Northern countertop popcorn machine came yesterday and I was so excited. This company has been tried and trusted for years. However, upon opening the box, I was a bit upset at the use of flimsy materials to construct the unit. The old maid tray was bent, the metal piece that pulls down is bent and doesn't fit right, the glass door pins are bent and leaves an over 1 inch gap at the top where seeds fly out, and it doesn't align with the magnet. We have to put a nut in-between socket and pin on door to get it to close properly and latch onto the magnet. The real problem with this unit was the false advertising. I previously had a 2.5 oz popper that we outgrew and wanted something larger for movie night. So I saw this unit and the price and dimensions were perfect for what we. Wanted. My other unit was hard to get in and out of, this one states it was 17x14x24. What we received was 15x11x24. It is a little roomier but not what was advertised. The dimensions of the hood matches the description but not the unit itself, which is misleading for those looking for certain size poppers! Over all the unit works well, and because of this, we will not be returning, but let buyer beware, Great Northern standards have really lost it with this product!P.s. bottom warming tray gets extremely hot...more hot than it should, great northern should look into this. We left warming light in, as it says you can in the instructions, for long periods of time, we left it on for two hours during our movie, and the bottom warmer under the base, brunt all the popcorn on the bottom of the pile...it's set too hot for a warmer! Hope this helps anyone looking for an honest review. Not all products have same issues...buyer beware...

Very high quality popcorn maker. The kettle is very large and heats up quickly. The kernal screen and tray seperates unpopped kernels as well. A couple of the sheet metal pieces were damaged in shipping and customer service was very quick to replace them.
