I purchased the GoPro HERO 10 Black for my 21-year-old son for Christmas (2024). He took the camera with us to Celebrate New Years 2025 in Hawaii.You have to purchase a memory card - this package does not come with one. You have to perform the original camera battery charge without the memory card installed. Once the memory card had video / picture data saved, the camera could be charged with the memory card still installed but would not charge with a blank formatted memory card.The camera functioned beyond expectations on our boy's trip to Hawaii and my son captured some AMAZING underwater video / pictures of:1. Green Sea Turtles while snorkeling down to about 30-feet (while maintaining required distance from the Turtles) in the Ocean off Oahu2. Volcano activities in Volcano National Park - Hawaii (Big Island)3. Humpback Whales surfacing and breaching off Maui4. Multiple Waterfalls (swam out to and in those that were allowed), "Jungle" hikes, and underwater fish at several beaches along the Road to Hana - MauiAlong with numerous days of typical camera action (Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head, Black Sand Beach, New Years Celebration (Honolulu), etc.)The battery lasted a considerable time - easily handling 8-10 hours of on/off use on a single charge. Our iPhones needed more charging than the GoPro HERO 10 Black. The integrated LCD was nice to ensure images and framing was accurate and the ability to link to an iPhone was useful for multiple selfies and remote camera operations (being able to set the camera outside all the tourist arms and heads and activate / control filming was beneficial). My son tested (on purpose) the floating adventure stick / handle and found it functioned well with the camera (and underwater enclosure) attached -- never needed it, but was good to know it did float with the camera attached.My son also enjoyed that the GoPro auto produced summary videos of each day of our trip from the pictures and videos he took on each day. He even more enjoyed that GoPro allowed him to create and edit video on-the-fly. He is considering purchasing the upgrade subscription to allow for more detailed / technical editing.

I purchased the GoPro HERO 10 Black with high expectations for its impressive specs and performance, but unfortunately, my experience has been far from positive. The camera itself offers excellent video quality, stable footage, and all the features I was hoping for. However, the battery life is absolutely terrible. Despite charging it fully, I barely get 3-10 minutes of continuous use, even with minimal settings and no high-power functions like 4K recording. This is far below what I was expecting, especially for a high-end action camera like the HERO 10.What made the situation worse is that when I attempted to file a claim for Asurion 2 years camera protection claim support for a battery replacement or any kind of assistance, the process was incredibly frustrating. I couldn’t find a clear way to file for a replacement, and after trying several avenues, I was left with no resolution. The lack of clear communication and effective support from Asurion protection plan is deeply disappointing, especially considering the premium price of this camera.While the GoPro HERO 10 Black may be a great choice for those who don't experience these issues, my experience with the poor battery life and lackluster customer support has left me regretting this purchase. I would advise caution before buying.

The short review:Upgraded from (very) old Hero3+ black. The picture quality is spot on. Exposures and dynamic range is extremely impressive. Stabilization is fantastic. HD & 4k output is wonderful. Has never overheated for us at all (we have two).HOWEVER:The battery life is abysmal even with the Enduro battery. Don't expect to shoot 1 hour (continuous or not) with their batteries. Maybe 20 min max and even less at higher frame rates.The app while functional could be vastly improved. There are way too many screens to navigate so when you need a fast launch you don't get it. What you get is basically a promo screen. When I'm using the app I want the connection to my cameras to be first, foremost and fast. I don't want to see anything else unless I choose. They get minus 5 stars for their bloated app.I still think GoPro is a bit overpriced especially with their abysmal battery life but even so there's nothing we've seen that cost less and has quality and features equal to or better than them (not even DJI).

Initial testing shows impressive video and a good variety of features. I was slightly disappointed that it didn't include the micro SD card that is necessary for operation but that is on me for not reading close enough when doing my pre-purchase research.

I purchased the GoPro Hero 10 Black camera and was very impressed by the photo and video quality. The colours are fantastic, and the video stabilization is excellent. The only issue I have with this camera is that it occasionally turns on by itself if I have my smartphone nearby that is on; it has the GoPro Quik app installed. As a result of this annoying unexpected camera startup issue, I had to deduct a star from my rating. It may have to be something with the app that may be causing the camera to turn on unexpectedly. Nevertheless, I was quite impressed with the camera's performance and image quality and would recommend it if you want excellent image quality and stabilization.
