Product Description

At Great Plains Industries, Inc., we manufacture American-made fuel transfer pumps that are easier for our customers to install, operate and maintain than any other brand. We've been building superior products since 1972, in the heart of the mid-west Wichita, Kansas, USA. We deliver long-lasting, low maintenance gear pumps for mobile installations such as mounting a barrel, skid tank, or onto a truck bed tank of 100 gallons or less. All GPI pumps are constructed of all aluminum parts with powder-coated motor housings that never rust. Reduce installation times with GPI exclusive options: quick-fit modular connections, factory-installed power cord, spin collar mount, and telescoping suction pipe.

I'm lazy. I'm tired or lugging 5 gallon cans to the station and up on the hood of the tractor.I looked at this pump and Fil Rite. Honestly, I picked the GPI because it looked to be easier to attach a filter and I wanted the plastic pickup tube - no rust. They both have good reviewsThe unit came packed well, it went together easily (would be nice if they included a roll of Teflon tape), and primed quickly. I purchased a 3" 3/4" extension to attach the filter. You can see in the photo it fits well.I started to fill the tractor and overflowed it. 10 gallons/100 revolutions is faster than you think. I was also stuck with fuel in the hose since I couldn't drain it into the tank (remember - it was overflowing...). This pump does NOT reverse flow when running backward (I think the Fil Rite does). It has an anti-siphon valve as a safety feature that prevents that. I had to open the second bung in the 55 gallon drum and drain the fuel back into it that way.All that to say - I've used the pump once. It went together easily, primed quickly, and pumped (too) well. I don't have any reason to think it won't last many (many) years.

This GPI pump is efficient (e.g., 0.1 gallon delivered per rotation), nicely finished and it doesn’t leak. Assembly was simple, and there were no missing pieces in the kit of parts. The price was modest, too.

wow, I wish I would have replaced my old pump with this one years ago. Instantly pumps gas with little effort

The nozzle will not stay in the holder on the pump. You will need to wire it to stay put.

This pump housing lacks threads into the unit itself and the rubber gasket moves and allows water to enter the tank. Will cost you $1000s in repairs. DONT BUY

In my former vocation as a farmer I used the GPI hand pump for many years of trouble free service. I sold the farm and left that one for the new owner. I still have diesel equipment so I bought a smaller 30 gallon barrel and a new GPI pump to go with it. It’s working well for me as expected.
