The original latex rubber 1†Penrose used to be ubiquitous until hospitals got rid of most latex products. These are still the best stretchy comfortable tourniquet. The non-latex product turns into a thin rubber band when pulled tight. There is no good substitute (except maybe a partially inflated BP cuff). Of course, use with caution if suspected latex allergy.

This consists of 1" diameter thin walled latex tubing, each piece is 18 inches long. They are shipped unbent in a long box so that there are no kinks or creases. The latex material is white as shown in the picture. The latex is quite stretchy. The quality seems high and the wall diameter appears pretty consistent.

Long ago, my mother, a surgical nurse for a while, gave me one of these for opening jars. Just wrap it around the lid and turn. The solid grip requires much less effort! She just recently gave me a few more which I gave to all my friends.
