  • It works on all standard SAE and Metric fittings, NOT for use with sealed bearings.

  • It’s designed to be used with a penetrating fluid (non-chlorinated, non-aerosol). Simply fill the main chamber with the fluid, then reinsert the plunger to apply pressure.

  • Just fill it with a penetrating oil like diesel fuel, tap the plunger lightly with a small hammer to help the fluid work its way in, and let it sit for several hours or overnight. This gives the oil time to soften and loosen the clog.

  • 1. Focus on tapping, not blasting. The goal is to dissolve the clog, not force it out.

    2. Use a lightweight hammer for quick, small taps for best results.

    3. If needed, let the oil sit for a few hours or overnight to break down grease and rust.

The Build Maven grease fitting cleaning tool helped free up a rusted pin in a hydraulic cylinder end on a Woods backhoe outrigger leg for me.I needed to remove the hydraulic cylinder to rebuild it with a new seal / o ring kit but the lower pin in the outrigger leg was rusted solidly in place. Was able to remove the pin on the other end of the hydraulic cylinder and rebuild the cylinder on the backhoe, but I wanted to be able to grease the pin / cylinder hinge too.Had already removed the grease fitting which was already clear and cleaned the fitting hole in the cylinder end with a pick and compressed air and oiled it down with Kroil penetrating oil and let it soak for a couple of days. Also had heated the end with an O2 acetylene torch and could not get any grease to flow along hitting it with an 8 lb. sledgehammer mushrooming the pin ends like a rivet and distorting the cotter pin holes.Purchased the grease fitting tool and attached it to the grease fitting and tapped on the tool with a medium ball peen hammer, also taped on the pin back and forth many times. No penetrating oil would come of the rusted in place pin.Let the tool sit attached overnight full of Kroil penetrating oil to soak in.Used a heat gun on the cylinder end for 10 minutes and tapped on the tool and pin ends and penetrating oil finally started coming out 1 end.Worked it back and forth many times with the small hammer, then got the 8 lb. sledge on it and the pin started moving both way and was able to get grease to flow to flush some rust out.By then the pin had become a sizeable rivet head on each end.Used a side grinder to dress up 1 end of the pin and was able to remove the pin. Then used a bench grinder to dress up both ends of the pin and drilled out the distorted cotter pin holes so that cotter pins would fit.Wire brushed the pin and inside the cylinder bore ends and installed the pin and grease finally flowed freely. Now on to the other side that grease will flow on only 1 end to fix it too.

I had some real nasty clogged on my Bobcat Zirk fittings. I had 10 zirk fittings that where clogged, two had to be replaced, 8 others had to remove the zirk fitting and clean out the dried debris and soak them with PB blaster. I only had 1 fitting that this helped on. I got grease flowing through 9 of the 10 and then ended up buying a Makita cordless grease gun. With 10,000 psi, the last grease fitting didn't stand a chance.

Purchased this for my husband as he drives a fuel truck and has to grease heavy equipment. It works great to clear out clogged fittings quickly. It is used almost daily fits all fitting without leaking. I will be purchasing extra to have on hand. The ease of this tool is very much worth it.

If you have an Offroad vehicle (we have a Jeep and a Bronco) that has zerks to lube bushings or driveshafts, then this is helpful if you need to clear them out. I used this on an old motorcycle clutch slave lube point because the grease is 50 years old and all dried up. I had to be careful because the clutch cover is aluminum, but I popped this on the zerk and gave it a couple of taps and pushed the old grease out. Too easy!

The Grease Fitting Cleaning Tool is an essential tool for maintaining machinery and equipment. It effectively removes old, dried grease from grease fittings, pins, shafts, bushings, and joints, ensuring smooth operation and extending the life of your equipment. The tool is easy to use, and the ergonomic design makes it comfortable to grip, even during extended cleaning sessions. The red color makes it easy to spot in a toolbox or garage, and it does a great job of rejuvenating grease fittings, allowing new grease to flow freely. If you're looking to keep your equipment in top condition and avoid grease buildup, this tool is a must-have. Highly recommended for DIYers and professionals alike!

It’s what they say it is. That said, I gave it four stars because it couldn’t break through whatever was blocking my fitting. I replaced the fitting and it’s all good now.
