GRK's FIN/TRIM head screws are an excellent choice for most trim carpentry applications. They have the smallest screw head available with lengths from 1-1/4-inch to 5-inch. Most material splitting is prevented by the Trim head screw's small head and W-cut thread design. Pre-drilling is usually only necessary in extreme hardwoods like Mahogany or Ipe'. Some sizes are availabele in PHEINOX stainless steel.

I am using these 2 inch as well as the 1-1/2, 2-1/2 and 3-1/8 inch screws on my project rebuilding the stairs in my circa 1915 home. I have yet to find a single malformed screw or have one that is hard to start or have one strip out. In addition they are easy to drive and control the depth because of the torx head drive. They make a very small hole which can be filled with a small ball of non-hardening filler. What more could I ask? Definitely recommended.

Used these to finish/ attach exterior wood trim to a deck storm door. I live on the ocean, so stainless steel is critical to avoid rust bleeding through the paint. Easy to install; star bit came in the package!

You can use these 8 x 2-inch finish screws anywhere that you would use a large finish nail. The screw gives you more control since you don't have to drive it in with a hammer. If you are worried about splitting the wood, you can drill a small pilot hole first. The head of the screw is a little larger than I expected so it makes a larger hole than a larger finish nail but that is remedied with wood filler.

I have used GRKs since they first came out many years ago, and have LOVED them! They are the best.However, in the past few years I have often been frustrated with the trim heads, which use the T-10 bit. In hard woods, especially, they tend to strip. You have to pre-drill, and then go in-and-out several times to get the screw fully in. If not, it will almost surely strip, or break the bit that comes with the screws.They work awesome in the softer woods, but hard stuff like Hickory or Maple or tropical hardwoods, it requires a lot more care.

I had to reinstall about 100 linear foot of baseboard trying to reuse the old nail holes to minimze the painting prep job. These finish screws were excellent. With the star drive and a good drill you feel completely in control....nor splintering, no tare through

Ive gone on to order 4 further packets of these trim screws. They're amazing. They glide into the wood without any danger of splitting even very close to the edge or with narrow pieces such as plywood. They drive deep into the wood with ease if that's what you want and they're so neat and because of the small head it is very easy to conceal the hole with wood filler. They come with the correct bit to drive them in too. They are an absolute joy to work with and I would highly recommend them to anyone working with wood.
