The Size 4 Gainsborough Oil & Acrylic Filbert brush is made from Chungking hog’s hair. This Professional-grade brush is generally the best choice for oil and acrylic paint due to the flags that hold color. The strong, durable brush easily manipulates heavy paint. It has a unique taper that causes the bristles to interlock, which maintains its original shape and helps control the placement of color. Filberts are a perfect compromise between rounds and flats. They are shaped like a flat with a curved end allowing for more flexibility than a flat. The side can be used like a round and the broad side like a flat. The Filbert brush was invented by the Impressionists in order to have the feeling of a worn in flat with maximum flexibility, and it has become a favorite of painters everywhere. Since 1905, Grumbacher has been a brand trusted by students, professors, art conservationists, and professional artists throughout the United States.

These hog bristle brushes are top quality and from a great well-known brand, and usually they're too expensive for my tastes. But now and then you can get these for really good prices on Amazon. I was able to get this particular brush (size 4) for under five bucks. You just have to keep an eye out for the sale prices.

This is a very reliable brush. You do not have to guess if it will hold up through the painting.

I have had this brush for just under a year and have used it about 30 times. I clean, condition and reshape my brushes after ever use. The rest of my brushes (many of them older) are still in great condition. I picked up this brush today and kept have to reshape it after ever brush stroke. This is unacceptable for a fairly new brush. It reminds me of a cheap synthetic bristle brush that you would get in a beginner pack. At this point I am about to replace a less than year old brush that had limited use. I will not be buying a Grumbacher Gainsborough again.

This brush was a good find and I may order more of them. The hog bristles overlap nicely.

pretty good for the price, bristles came out pretty bad, but for the size it's cheap.

No estan mal pero no cumplieron mis expectativas. Hay otras fabricantes que manejan pelo de cerdo de calidad superior. Prefiero que el pelo esté más firme y esta marca no tiene eso.
