It will help encourage me to continue my real reviews of products I've purchased.Pros: * Great Price * Lightweight * Should be high temperature for short period of time (No Flame though) * Lock Open * Interesting design * Like the slotted spoon shaped tongs with teeth for grabbing and draining food prior to serving * When folded in storage position look like you could use handle to help get toast out of toaster in kitchen * No California P65 Cancer risk warning * I would not mind these in kitchen with guests overCons: * Size and packablity limited. When folded the tongs extend past the base of orange handle. I tried using line to loop the ends closer together when folded. It does gain a small amount of space, but at the expense of stressing plastic over time. I'll probably just put some cleaning gear in the gap of the handle when folded for storage.Yes I'd buy these Tongs again. On the small side but, so far, very durable. I have only used these in my kitchen but they are working out very well. They fold but not to a small convenient size. They are at least the same width folded as they are extended, just shorter. They will work for my application. Good GSI quality. They are plastic or nylon so keep them away from really hot things like fires or stoves or they will melt…it’s just common sense folks.I bought 2 of these at a really good price so I won’t be out a bunch of money if something does happen to them. I’ve had this in my cart for a very long time hoping I’d catch a good deal and I did. I wouldn’t pay MSRP for them though.

I bought these along with the GSI kitchen set and it's really cool to have. The only downfall about this which I really didn't think about when I purchased it is that its plastic. So if you were to be picking up items with this on a grill or a pan and you're not careful, the plastic will melt. It hasn't happened to me during my trip because I was careful but it could happen. I do like that its compact and it folds so it could be put inside the kitchen set. Overall, its an innovative product but if they would make this out of steel or aluminum, it'd be awesome to have during camping trips!

Complete the kitchen set GSI offers by purchasing these tongs. It's not my idea, I read it in someone else's comments. I am glad I did because I found I used them as much as any other part of the kitchen set. Full disclosure though, I use tongs a lot when cooking every day stuff around the house, especially on the grill (which is where I tested these). I am camping in the upcoming weekend, so I will test them over my campfire and update if I have any additional issues or comments.Pros: They are very versatile. I used them for flipping a burger and stirring some hash browns around. Lightweight, so the tongs are prefect if you are carrying your stuff (backcountry).Cons: They add cost to your kitchen set, I wish they were included. They are a tad flimsy, they have to be because they are light weight. Most of us aren't cooking a 22 oz sirloin on our campfire (at least I'm not) so they are functional.

These were purchased for car camping use as they would not be something worth carrying for backpacking.At first, they worked great in temperatures above freezing during the fall. They are very lightweight and compact and fit nicely in our camp kitchen loadout. The tongs fold back on themselves to save space and have no issues with touching flames here and there while flipping meats over the campfire grill.The way they fold back is the main issue. You have to bend them to slide over the notch. On an early winter trip the temps got down to 25°F and the utensils were all close to the fire while cooking, hoping that some of the heat from the fire would negate any cold effects on the plastic. Unfortunately, even while babying them into stow mode, they still snapped apart.I love GSI products and own many of them, but these were pretty useless when it came to cold weather operation. If you buy them, make sure you don't use them in colder weather. I was a bit unimpressed that it really wasn't that cold and they still snapped so easily.

When I first received this (and related utensils) I thought "this is a toy".It was smaller than I thought and seemed like a toy you'd get for "tea-time".I was pleasantly surprised that it held up well to the bacon grease on a camping stove. It is sturdy (for something that is plastic) and didn't melt or deform. It folds down so its compact enough to fit beneath the camping stove metal grateIt cleaned up easily as wellSo far so good

Used these on my last trip, and it really helped with cooking. The whole spatula/spoon thing wasn't working as well, so grabbed these. They were super helpful in the kitchen. They don't fold as compact as you would think, but they are lightweight, easy to clean, and worked great. For my overland rig, don't really care that they aren't as compact, as I have some storage room.As always, GSI gear is always good stuff, and have yet to have any issues with any of their products. Always feel confident when purchasing their gear.

Got these to complement a GSI Outdoors Destination kitchen utensils kit. Sturdy, won't scratch your non-stick pans, don't melt and fold down to a tiny size. Not cheap but you get what you pay for.

I was on the fence as people really trashed these in the reviews. I don’t agree with any of it. Very happy with the quality. Very well built. Good tension in the tongs so can pick up quite a bit of weight which surprised me. Folded you will never have them fold flat but they fold into themselves enough to make a difference. A thick elastic over them to pull them closed further to store will remedy any space concerns honestly. People that use them for open fires are just idiots. They’re plastic! They do grip really well and with a traditional backpacking stove are perfect. Easily flip chicken breasts, grab pasta no problem. Perfect for what I need and for what they’re designed for. Would definetly recommend and buy again.

Pretty good tongs, alot smaller than I expected but just check the item description. PLastic doesn't melt with cooking and it fold up nicely. Great addition to the camping cook set. Maybe a bit too short to cook bacon with.
