Works well on my guitar bench

It works. It is marked incorrectly. You will have to find which side is which, but considering it’s about 1/10 of the big name brands I’ll make it work.

Only thing is the writing is in wrong place for each of the 2 scale lengths. If one doesn’t foot then turn it round. I also found it works with a 24 inch 24 fret guitar neck.

This thing is trash. If I could give it less than 1 star I would. I'm mad that fuel was used to ship something this worthless.Issues1. I put it on a reference granite plate and NEITHER side of the straight edges are even close to flat.2. It's shipped in an envelope and mine showed up bent (see photo).3. The corners of the cutouts are so sharp it would be impossible to put on a fretboard and not gouge the wood.4. The laser markings for scale length are mislabeled.

I recently sold some guitars and had issues of people complaining about the necks being bowed. I bought this tool to confirm or deny as I couldn’t tell by eyeballing. This is also helpful for evaluating the guitars I purchase or plan on keeping.

I had to laugh. I was prepared to send this back based on the reviews. I build guitars, but have my shop in one location and the guitars in another. I own the $95 StewMac "gold standard" for 24.75"/25.5" scale guitars but was trying not to buy another, so enter the Amazon cheap Chinese knockoff ($10-12USD). I read the reviews - not accurate, sharp edges, etc. So I bought one to try, and the photos show it all;). As accurate as StewMac but labels exactly WRONG (short scale is labeled long scale and vice versa). It is true that the ruler is not perfectly straight (less important than...) but it was FLAT. Also, it is definitely thinner (hence more flexible and capable of bending). This one is 3/32" (0.94) while the SM one is a proud 1/8" (0.134"). If you NEED a good one, spend the $95. If you need a second one or just "check" neck action, spend $12. Hey, send it back for another one if the one you get sucks.

I could have spent more but didn't see the point. This does the trick for making sure the guitar neck is straight. This helped me fix a problem guitar that I was beginning to think would never sound right.

A good, thick, straight steel bar. The slots for the frets aren't cut out though, they're punched/pressed out, leaving sharp edges and pointy corners. If you plan to finish this yourself with a file, it's a good value.
