Bought these to put in a kit bass. I did have to get out my dremel and open up the bridge cavity a little. The tabs on the cover are slightly largerthan the pickups that came in the kit. (No big deal... just a heads up) Shielded the cavities with copper tape. They are loud, clear and noise free. Have a decent tone range. More than worth money spent. Extremely happy.

I play jazz basses or jazz configured basses with overdrive (100% finger style) for metal, punk, hardcore & thrash. I always play both pickups at 100% and just recently started solo’ing the neck pickup (and won’t go back).I bought these to counter the single coil hum since I’m now solo’ing the neck pickup. I couldn’t be happier….very similar to a P tone but with more highs, deeper lows & slightly less mids than a P. With overdrive it cuts through the mix very well. With both pickups on it sounds like a higher output jazz bass but with slightly less highs but also deeper lows. As mentioned they are a little noisy but nothing that deters me from playing in a band setting. I’m very happy with them & my guitarist & drummer both commented on how I smash through the mix now (neck soloed).

Pickup magnet strip not lining up with middle strings which reduces power. Unbalanced.

These do have a bit of noise, but wow, what a big snd present sound! I would say they are pretty balanced, with no mid scoop. Lowend is a bit fat, but still defined.

First off, I haven't experienced any noise that some of the reviews on here have said, BUT I also didn't install both pickups. I was thinking about installing a p-bass pickup in the neck or middle position of my Squier Jazz Bass, but cutting up the body and finding a pickguard was just a big turnoff. I saw these online and noticed that they were split, but at the same time, the same size as a J pickup and for $35, I figured, why not? I am very surprised on the output and nice low end you get from this pickup. Very similar to the P-bass sound I was looking for. Now I did have to e-tape the pickup halves at the bottom to keep them from falling into the cover ( which may have solved the noise problem that other reviewers are experiencing ) also this is a ceramic pickup and my J-bass pickup is an Alnico ( don't know if the hybrid mixing of ceramic and Alnico have anything to do with my success also ) My only complaints are that I wish I could have just bought the one pickup, the before mentioned pickups not quite fitting in their covers and I wish they would've labeled the front and bridge pickups ( there is a difference ) All and all I am very happy with the outcome of this little experiment. The first gig I played with it, people told me that it sounded amazing and that a Squier has no business sounding that good.

Used on a Squire Jazz, these give it a lot more OOMPH! I'm happier than a Marine eating Crayons!!

These pickups are not good. Not good at all. They sound very dark, and produce a LOT of 60 cycle hum, even though they are split coil humbuckers. I think this is due to the fact that they are not well grounded, not wax potted and not sealed. Lots of hum and noise. And the sound you get playing though them is pretty Meh.So i pulled them back out and returned them. For what these cost, you'd be better off trying Wilkinson or GFS pickups.
