This is the correct tip for nearly all through-hole soldering. As always with Hakko, it’s high quality and performs extremely well. Take care of it by keeping it clean and tinned and it should last a very long time. The value and longevity are dependent upon care and use.

I found that these Hakko tips fit cheap Chinese soldering irons MUCH better than the tips sold with the Chinese irons or the Chinese tip sets. The length and diameter fit the heating element closely and make the temperature control much more stable than with the absurdly oversized Chinese tips!

Good tip. Do NOT under any circumstances try to solder aluminum with this, incl. aluminum foil. You get 1 good joint per tip, then you need to buy a new tip. The aluminum literally pulls the permanent-tinned coating right off the end of this tip, making it useless. I could get it retinned only with tinning compound, but it doesn't last. The permanent tinning of the tip is destroyed, and the tip is unfixable. And...since the permanent tinning got sucked off on your first aluminum joint, it won't make a 2nd aluminum joint either. It's done for. I'm sure I could find some corrosive aluminum flux somewhere, and that's prob. what I'll have to do for the future: just use my ruined one as my trash tip for aluminum soldering only.

If you own a hakko fx-888 and you do through hole soldering work on circuit boards this should be your main tip! Like a conical but with a tiny wedge on the end to easily heat both the part and the board. Pay the extra money and get this.The knockoffs rarely get the inside diameter of the heads perfect and you can easily tell the lack of performance and heat transfer.Buy this head, tin it and clean it after a day, it will easily last a year of projects. Big ups to my favorite brand Hakko

As far as I can tell, this is the same tip that comes with the Hakko FX-888 soldering station. I didn't realize that when I bought it but have since decided that it's a good one to have for a spare.It's a good all-around tip for through-hole electronics soldering. The tip is not perfectly smooth (it has small machine marks on the surface), but despite that it has good heat delivery, it's small enough to get in there and is shaped well for good contact.Don't be confused by Hakko tip part numbers. They're very simple. The Hakko FX-888 station uses T18-series tips. The -D16 is a chisel tip which is 1.6mm wide. The -D24 tip is 2.4mm wide. I hope that helps.

I am please that this fits my 853D solder station. to me it seems to be a much better tip than the included tips with the solder station. I will definitely purchase Hakko again.

I'm always dubious about "genuine" items on Amazon, but this was a genuine product in an air-tight sealed bag, pre-tipped to limit any oxidation.The first use made me realise just how bad my previous tip had gotten - the solder flowed very easily.I used this on a basic Hanmatek SD2 soldering station and the tip fit perfectly

Se nota la diferencia comparadas con las puntas chinas, estas son de una calidad amuy superior, metal y grosor se nota mucho a la hora de soldar, lo recomiendo sin duda. Gracias.
