I dare say in the fifty years since I've been buying kitchen appliances that this is the best can opener I've ever owned. It's easy to use. Cans aline perfectly under a sturdy bar that secures the can firmly while cutting every time and removes the top just like it was a lid. I frequently only use part of the contents and now I can use the top to close the cans with a little tape for storage in the fridge. Smooth edges once cans are open so there's no danger of cutting fingers on the can it the top. I'm officially a senior citizen with arthritic joints. I can push the lever down with my palm and easily hold it while cutting the can open. I can hear a click when the can is open so I know when to grab the can that releases when I let off the lever. It's got a fairly small footprint on the counter. The only issue, which isn't a problem for me, is that there is no place to store the excess power cord. I keep the opener directly under an outlet in my kitchen and the cord is jumbled up behind it. Kind unsightly and messy looking. But I'm happy to deal with it because this can opener works so well. I highly recommend the product.

Had so many issues with can openers not working properly and or wearing down so quick. Went though three $20 manual can openers before I gave up and decided to pick this automatic one up and I have to say it works extremely well. No sharp edges or anything. It opens the cans up from the side at the top so you can even use this to open up cans with tabs which I have done without an issue. Finally! This is a great can opener, just put the can in and it gets opened, no problem. Easy.We needed one because we both have hand/wrist issues in our household and manual openers were painful to use. This opener really does wonders for us. It's not too large and fits fine on our shelf.NOTE: I have seen ratings on this mentioning "metal shavings" in the can afterwards. We have had this for several weeks, opened multiple cans, and no shavings. You can't let it continuously run; one rotation is enough to open the can. If you walk away from it and come back after a minute, yeah, you might get metal shavings. Also, people have mentioned you have to stand there and watch the can open: yes, you probably shouldn't walk away from the can as it's being opened, but it takes 5-10 seconds (maybe not even that long) depending on the can. You really can't watch it for that long?We have been through multiple manual units with great ratings like the OXO and Starfrit units, and others. Most worked fine for a while but eventually gave out. Have been so disappointed by openers over the years. Hope this one lasts. It's so easy!
