The reviews on this were a mixed bag. I opted to take a chance on it. We used this for our Russian dwarf hamster. It is about the size I expected. Once it was put in our hamster stopped using his larger house and opted for it as his new place to sleep. I'm guessing he likes the small space.The water bottle doesn't leak on its own. We have not had leaking issues unless it is caused by bedding touching the spout. We simply watch it and if some of it was moved we remove it.It's fun too. Taking out the bottle alone out little hamster likes to look up out of the top of it when we go to cleaning his cage (of course this is before removing him.TL;DR Buy it! It's super cute, works well, hamster loves it and just keep the bedding from the spout to prevent leaking.

He has plenty to choose from and this is what he likes to sleep in. Most of the time it keeps him well hidden even though he's a big teddy bear hamster. It's nice and snug and he loves it!

We liked it. It was nice to have a water bottle internal to the cage, one the gerbils couldn't knock over. The capacity was a bit on the small side, but we were dealing with the frequent refills.The problem is that the gerbils nibbled on it, eventually (within weeks) destroying it by separating the metal part from the bottle. They got yo it even though we put it in the higher opening.

I learned my lesson. Please dont spend your money on cute stuff. It completely leaked out in less than an hour. I requested a replacement, that leaks out too. They wrote me and were no help, now I'm stuck with 2 crappy leaking bottles. Thanks!! ..not.

Our hamster loves this thing! She likes that she can use it to hide in and will crawl in there to play when the water bottle is pulled out to be refilled.
