I bought this to replace a bell I had for years in my classroom. That bell broke a few month ago, and before it broke, I had to constantly tighten the handle because it came loose. I paid a hefty price for it at the teaching store and it was mediocre at best. When it finally broke I was super sad because that's what I use to get my students attention when they are paying attention to the hand signal in my classroom. This bell is very well constructed. The handle is sturdy, the bell sound is slightly louder than the previous bell and it still sits in the same place as the other bell and doesn't take up much space on top of my desk!

The sound, coming from the bell, is a BEAUTIFUL almost heaven-like chime. I was PLEASANTLY surprised at how beautiful the tone was. It sounds better than bell choir chimes. The sound is loud enough to hear in an apartment but soft enough to be pleasant to the ear.The handle connection to the bell isn't the best of quality but the sound far outweighs that downfall.

It is not loud enough and it is very high pitched, so older people can't hear it! It was a waste of money for us. It can be heard in the next room but if someone is in the next room, it's easier just to say: "Dinner's Ready!"
