This worked fine for my application. I had a piece of wood fixed in a somewhat tight crevice that I couldn't easily reach with a disc sander, and it required far too much sanding to do by hand comfortably due to the angle it was at. Luckily I found this, and it just barely fit enough to get the job done without having to destroy my shoulder. It's clearly fairly cheap plastic, so a star knocked off for that as I don't expect it hold up under heavy use, but overall for the price and certain applications that it can be used for, I definitely recommend it.

This hand sanding block works well to extract/collect dust during my sanding. I liked that this kit came with a good variety of grits to try with this sanding block. However, I took a star off because the kit did NOT include any information about how to get more sanding pads after the initial sample set is worn out. This block uses special sanding material that is more like a mesh so it can attach to the hook and loop fastening system on the bottom of the sanding block. The mesh also allows the sawdust produced to pass through the sanding material into the holes of the sanding block when a vacuum hose is attached to it. Using regular sanding paper will just block the holes which will prevent the vacuuming up of the saw dust as its produced.I looked all over the website for Amazon and the named vendor of this product but could not find out how to get replacement sanding mesh/materials. This lack of information prevents me from continuing to use this sanding block after I run out of the samples, so only 4 star rating for an otherwise really good product.

Seemed well built and a great price. Just could not find a way to connect the Festool vac hose to it. Looks like the Powertec hand sanding block is compatible with that hose.

This is so simple but great. Takes sanding mesh sheets and has a dust port. Everything one needs for a final hand sanding. Comfortable to grip and use. I'll pick up some more of these.

This is great for my very specific use case - dust free touch up of wall repair where a wet sponge won't work.For more general use, I'm not so sure.Extensive heavy use of mesh will wear out the hooks pretty quickly, without a pad protector you have to toss the whole block instead of just replacing the pad protector. But I'm not aware of a pad protector available with this hole pattern.(And by the way, it has 18 holes, not 51 as stated.)It would help if they offered an interface pad with the matching hole pattern, too.With my vacuum hose connected to an adapter that connects to the 2-piece adapter provided it gets pretty klunky. Maybe it's a direct fit for some particular brand of vacuum hose, I dunno. More the fault of the crazy vacuum hose market than the sander, really.
