This is a great math tool to teach the base 10 concept! It is the perfect size for my 6 year old son. It is sturdy and the beads are easy to move. This is definitely worth $12!

My daughter homeschools and we use Math Mammoth which required an abacus. She loves this thing! My three year old sometimes beats on it too so I can attest to the durability!

Worked well with my kids. We had to watch videos to learn how to count on it but they understand so it comes in handy for homework. Very sturdy.

Nice. Pretty solid. Beads are wooden. May be used standing up or lying down. But, it is NOT 8 1/2" x 9 1/2". It measures 10" x 13". I REALLY like the 5 red - 5 white beads in every row. It will help me teach my 1st grader counting by fives. If you look at the red "field" and white "field", it will also help with counting by twenty-fives (quarters).

I have a couple abacuses, but I purchased this one specifically because the beads are split into 5 and 5 with red and white beads. One of my children was really struggling to add, even with the other abacuses, but this has really helped her. It makes is much easier to see, say "7" because it's 5 red beads and 2 white beads. It does tip over pretty easy, which is a little annoying, but I could not find another abacus that was split into two different colors like this so I will keep it.

I bought this to help work on math for our house. The kids are having so much fun with it. They are really enjoying the different way numbers can be used and having a visual to count with. I enjoy that it stands up and the beads move easily for little ones. The colors allow us to separate by 5's easily.

I really like it a lot despite a little issue. There was a long splinter on one of the legs. It was too much hassle to return. So I pull out the splintering piece and smooth the edge with my fingernail. Aside from that issue, it looks very study and is very good quality. The finishes are nice. The wood seems be made of soft wood that you get with most "wood" toys, but it is finished with clear lacquer. My daughter didn't have issue with moving the beads. Now I just need to figure out how to use it to teach math.
