There are those people who buy trucks for Pose and Show. Or, as my wife says, "TDM =Testicular Display Merits". And then, there are those of us who buy and use a truck for what it was originally intended for. The transportation of goods, that most family vehicles cannot accommodate. Thats us.And then there are those kinds of people, who think that they can just go and buy a bed or sofa, and who only think about the size and weight, after they leave the store with it on their cart and are in the parking lot. You know them. They are the ones who rush back into the store and then ask for a piece of string. You have most likely seen those low IQ individuals driving down the freeway with a mattress on their roof, held on by the thinnest of string. LOL! Totally dumb.As long as we can remember, we have always had a truck in our family. (We have even had to own a second vehicle on occasions! LOL!) We use our truck for everything. Moving home, moving motorcycles, helping friends with large items, buying and selling large items - you get the idea.You learn pretty quickly, early on, that you have got to have GOOD tie-down straps.I would put these HANDT tie-downs in this category, for these following reasons:- MADE IN THE USA. Thats important and we look for this as much as possible. The box says it all.- Value vs quality. Pricey but excellent.- Comfort in use. Nice wide comfortable ratchet handles.- Dimensional necessity. These are long enugh for OUR needs. No long loose ends to have to tie up.- Strength necessity and rating. These are strong enough for most of OUR domestic needs.- Convenience in use. These are pre-strung. Just attach the hooks each end and tighten.- Rubberized hooks. Minimize damage to your truck and your cargo.- Hook clips. Useful in some instances, and a real pain in others.- Soft loops included. For when your hooks just dont fit in the gap, These are life-savers.Yes, I would have liked a larger "load" strength on these. But I carry a variety of strengths anyway for those especially weighty items. In most cases, 1500/500 should be plenty enough for most domestic uses.Also, those carabiner-type clips on the hooks can work against you sometimes and may not always allow you to go into the one and only fixing point that you may have. That is where those soft-loops come in really handy!We now have a couple of sets of these types of tie down rigs and we really like them. There is nothing worse than trying to feed ends of tie-down straps into one another, on a cold, wet, rainy dark night in high winds.It WILL happen to you one day and then you will be extremely grateful for the fact that you have some sets of these "just hook 'em up and ratchet 'em" rigs, stowed in your vehicle.As far as value? Yes, these may be a little pricey for some. BUT, take into account that you are supporting American business and these are REALLY well made and should last you a lifetime.

I use ratchet straps already, but larger and heavier duty. That can be a hassle if I just need to load something small in my truck because of the length so I wanted something shorter. These are quite short at only 6' so be aware of that first off. It's just a little bit longer than the width of my truck bed so it's just long enough for something not too large.When I first started using traditional ratchet straps, it took me a little time to get the hang of how to use them. I sometimes inserted it from the wrong side, or had too much slack so that when it wound around the spindle, it didn't have enough space to fully tighten the load.This one makes all of that unnecessary. It's extremely simple. You hold down the blue button to push down the black buckle and then can pull out as much length as you need. Then when it's time to tighten, push down the blue button and lift up the black buckle and you can then ratchet by lifting up then down, rinse, repeat until it's tight. They included a little instruction sheet as well if you need it, but really, it's quite simple and intuitive.One downside is that black buckle assembly is heavy, and can bang into whatever you're securing as the vehicle is moving if you're not careful. It's also quite bulky in comparison to a basic ratchet. It is nice that there's a snap on the hook to keep it from coming off. They heavy duty carrying case they refer to is just the thick cardboard box that it comes in. You never have to learn how to connect the strap with a traditional ratchet strap, so if you rarely use them and don't want to learn, then this is perfect for you. But I also think it's worth learning how to use the traditional ones as well, because this is the first one I've ever seen like this. Overall, it delivers what it promises, and is pretty decent, though it would be nice if the straps were a little longer and a little thicker.
