The wheel is attached to the base by a removable screw. The stand is small but it has a stable base and I love it's pink color. It doesn't make any sound and spins effortlessly. It works for my young robo hamsters. They can easily climb on it and run as fast as they want or can. It's clear and it has small ridges so my robo hamsters don't slide easily off the wheel even if they run crazy fast.

I ordered a small sized wheel for my medium hermies. I received the large 4" wheel. It is far too big for my crabs.The wheel also takes up too much space in the hermit crabs' 10 gallon glass aquarium habitat. Perhaps the small wheel would work; however, I think it would still take up too much space and only work for big crab sized XL or larger. I also feel that the asking price is too high. The 4" wheel may work for a small chameleon or something about that size.3 stars.

Our hamster loves this thing. I was a little iffy at first because it’s not really a wheel, but nope he got in there and ran laps all night long. Nocturnal athletes hamsters are. But we love that he loves it. I have watched him trip and just spin and spin, but he just gets up and keeps on going. It came nicely packaged, and I was able to put it together with no tools and no issues. Clean up is easy, we just use a little soapy water and wipe it down. I know it says for hermit crabs, and it may work perfect for them. It works great for our much larger Syrian hamster.
