The carbide tip is larger than other dead centers I have owned. Works well for larger center drills. Runs true, no runout. Would buy again. It’s just like the picture and description says.

Awful. Came with huge blunted tip and measured over 0.002†TIR in a lathe with less than 0.0001†TIR. CHINESE TRASH.

I purchased this dead center, and received one that was blunted at the tip into a circle about 80 thousandths in diameter. Completely useless. I returned it and purchased a second one. The tip on this one was extended through the end of the box when I received it and blunted into an oval around 100 thousandths across at the widest. A sharp point is essential when using these to align a metal lathe. The manufacturer NEEDS to package them in something that protects the point better than two layers of cheap cardboard! I had high hopes for HHIP, but I won't be looking for tools from that brand any more.
