Maybe I got lucky, but I think some reviewers may not understand that this bit is designed for lathes. It will operate (to some degree) in a drill or drill press, but it isn't going to self-center unless the work piece is rotating. I've used this in 6000 aluminium, 4130, and mild steel, all with great success. All on a 7x10 mini lathe. I used it once in a drill press (just to try it) as a starter for 5000 series aluminum and it worked well. I think I'll order another for the eventuality of breaking this bit or losing it.

Want a perfectly centered countersink? Want to do it twice as often?

I purchased this to drill holes in thin plastic gas tanks. It makes a very clean hole.

This will be the second order of eight pieces each that I'm sending back. They do "NOT !!!" even measure in SAE they measure in MM ? If I wanted drills in MM I would have ordered them in MM, I did not but that what the sent ?Actually the body's are kinda close to .125 but the drill at the tip measures in MM ?The drills at the tip are not rite either they seem to have only one side of the drill sharpened and will drill off center. The purpose of a center drill is to spot the center of a new hole or to make a center for a tail stock center for lathe work, well if your making an off center cam type piece these may work for ya?Again "TOTALLY USELESS JUNK !!!!!"Terry Cowger

I'm happy with the purchase. I've run them through epoxy, wood, composites, aluminum, damascus, and stainless steel -- all without an issue. For the purchase price, they're a good buy and I'll order again when they ultimately dull or snap like all tooling.

Marked as cobalt and passed simple test of scratching the side with edge of file - much harder than HSS.Did a good job of drilling a countersunk hole on the inside of T-Track. I could not reach in with a standard countersink

None of these bits were sharp and did not drill well at all .
