I had no idea that they come in AC and DC voltage they look the same and plug in the same but side by side the DC box is a little larger. I ordered the AC first and then noticed it was smaller than the one I had so I did some research and found this out. When I got the DC box (CDI) it worked perfectly.

Did not work with my 2009 razor 170. Tried it back to back with an oem 170 razor cdi. Also disconnected all the safety switches etc and still no luck.

Straight out of the box the cdi had no spark to the plug. Reinstalled the old cdi and the bike fired right up.

I use these to convert AC wired scooters to DC when I am not concerned with kick starting a scooter with a dead battery. I have had several scooters that would charge the battery, but not send enough voltage to the CDI box to create enough spark. This will always correct that, as long as you replace the wire to the power supply pin on the box to one that is switched from the battery. This is also an easy way to trouble shoot a No Spark on most GY6 scooters, before you replace a stator. I have the wiring set up so that I can switch between AC and DC power if I want to go back to the AC box. There are plenty of diagrams showing the wiring for this style 6-pin rounded plug CDI box on the internet.
