I had a large dead willow tree that needed to be cut down starting at the top. My climbing spikes kept releasing at inopportune moments due to the softness of the dead bark and core wood. These steps easily screwed into the trunk and made for a much safer and more secure foot hold for going up and down. also worked well to hang the chain saw when not in use.

These are awesome. They are thicker than the ones I bought from WM a few years ago.

I couldn’t be happier with these. They’re nice quality and sturdy.

By just trying to screw these into bark, it's hard. If u can hit them to sink in a bit, they bite in and bury deep. Easy to screw into the tree. Doesn't take alot of effort.

very solid, robust and heavy in your hands. (for the size of them). they are perfect sized in terms of foot hold and tapered screw portion. (keep in mind thickness of bark on tree when deciding to mount. an older douglas fit for example has a fair amount of bark to penetrate before grabbing wood.). if u r going into thick bark, i've made a point of cutting a flat spot into the bark to advance threads further into tree.
