This is probably the best rosin I have ever used. Can definitely feel and hear the improvement in sound production that I simply could not get from other brands of rosin. This rosin is perfect for cold weather and I think it works very well with cello strings!

I like this darker rosin for my cello, it grips the strings well. The fabric it is attached to is a thick foam type material so it gets in the way of swiping the bow across the rosin. I pulled the fabric off and melted the rosin to a piece of flannel and it's much easier to apply.

I have used Hill dark for years. It is the only one I use. Works great summer and winter. Don't drop it on a hard service, it will shatter into may pieces. It usually comes unstuck from the cover before long. Don't forget to rough up the surface befdore the first use, I use sand paper

This is a very good rosin. I was using a light rosin that did not work well in winter in the Northeast, but this allows for my strings to sing without that airy sound from rosin that does not stick.

Used Hill dark for years for fiddling. Good, quality rosin. This new cake has a very uneven wavy surface and the green wrap is a much darker color green. Almost evergreen color vs lighter green from my old cake. Not sure why it if it matters.

I bought this to replace my crappy student rosin that came in an inexpensive violin starter set. It's utterly amazing. It improved the sound quality, and helped me learn how to bow better. I upgraded my strings, bow, etc, but this is still the best money I spent besides the violin itself. Made such a huge difference. It's very easy to apply, and comes in a convenient little case. So happy with this purchase.

I'm not a professional violinist but for me and my casual playing this rosin is wonderful. Easy to apply and store in its little cloth.

Brilliant rosin- well packaged and the cloth wrap keeps it from getting shattered when it gets dropped (which is many times!). I bought this for my 10 year old daughter who plays the violin. It also has greatly improved the quality of the sound/how well the bow grabs the strings.

Ich wollte mal ein anderes Kolophonium ausprobieren, hatte erst das Liebenzeller im Blick. Davon riet mir mein Bogenbauer ab, weil es sich nicht mit dem Hill&Son dunkel verträgt. Deswegen habe ich mir dann das Pirastro Oliv geholt. Ja, Reinfalls. Meine Bratsche war heiser, sprach nicht mehr an. Ich war am Zweifeln, ob es wirklich am Kolophonium lag, aber ergal, also nochmal mein gutes altes Hill&Son bestellt. Und ja, es lag wirklich nur am Kolophonium. Meine Bratsche mag nur dieses und ich werde ihm jetzt treu bleiben. Fazit: man muss es ausprobieren, es führt kein Weg dran vorbei, aber dieses ist auf jeden Fall einen Versuch wert, denn wenn das Instrument damit zurecht kommt, hat man ein zuverlässiges Kolophonium, das einem beim Spielen alle Freiheit lässt und einen schönen warmen Bratschenklang ermöglicht.
