I have no idea about the flavor, I personally do not eat the dig food. However, my diabetic Yorkie seems to love it and so does my overweight dachshund. As to thickness I don't think that applies here. Overall, I have been well pleased with it. The need for a prescription for this item seems to be a bit much. I personally see no need for that, the diet would be good for any dog! The companies that require the prescription need to keep records just like pharmacies, doctors, etc. Asking for a prescription each time is excessive when a vet has written a prescription to be for the life of the dog. I quit doing business with one well known company because the not only kept asking for prescriptions they should have kept copies of, but were delinquent in getting my dogs insulin to me as promised by them.

Loved that certain dog foods are perscribed for dogs health issues. A little pricey, my chillings are my hear beats.

My pup is a diabetic and the most picky eater. I always fed him really good quality food, but he still got pancreatitis a few times and ended up in the hospital. Plus, he would only like the other dog food I would feed him for a few weeks then quit eating.. Until I had the Dr write a prescription for the Hills dog food! He eats so well, and hasn’t been sick in months! It’s been a life saver!! I would highly recommend this food for any diabetic dog. Oh, and he’s a small dog, only about 12lbs.

My Bichon just recently became Diabetic. She is 10 years old. She is family .I had to change her food for being a Diabetic. I researched this Dog Food. Talked to her veterinarian and he totally agreed.Great Product.

Our little burrito dog needs to lose some weight and this is going to help. Hopefully she seems to like it. The downside to this food is that it’s too expensive it’s like these companies. Have you buy the balls because they know if you need this food for your fat dog and they don’t care as long as they get their $45 for a small bag why should they care?
