You have to use the die cut on 2nd layer if cards..

This heart die cut is sturdy and works well. Had to run it through my Sizzix Express twice. (Therefore only four stars.) The pieces then came out easy and clean. I like the die and it fits nicely on a (4.25x5.5 in.) card front.

Haven't tried the die yet, but it appears to be a nice size. At its widest point, it is 2-3/4 inches. The height at the top of the heart to the tip at the bottom is just over 2-1/2 inches. I think it is over-priced for what it is.
