This is my go to pre emergent over the typical Halts Cragbrass Preventer at the big stores. It carries Dimension, which Halt's doesn't, and it not only is very effective against Crabgrass but it is one of the few that will kill Crabgrass after it emerges in case you put it down late. It covers a ton of other weeds but that's usually the trouble weed for most.Don't expect it to work miracles and that after the first application it will prevent weeds, those are usually the 2 star reviews you read. Pre emergent is about timing, so for the Spring if you missed your first window of application timing(mid Feb-April depending on where you live and soil temps) you just aren't going to see a huge benefit that year in weed prevention. If you missed it, don't worry, just throw it down, follow up in the fall, and time it next Spring. This stuff works, just stick with it, and don't expect to erase your yards of weeds until at least 2 full years of use. For trouble yards, apply immediately after the frost leaves and the fround warms up, again before peak summer, and in the fall. It's a gradual process with any pre emergent and not a miracle product to eradicate weeds in 1 use.

This product is easy to use and doesn't affect the grass that is already growing. I have a weed (wild carrot) in my bermuda/rye grass lawn that is VERY hard to eradicate. This product does seem to help, but I still have some of the wild carrot coming up. I suspect I need to be more consistent about using the product and especially before I even see any of the weeds. Overall, I'm happy to have this product and feel it helps a lot.

HOA recommended this product last year and it seemed to work well. I have purchased for use again this Spring.

Unlike most other big brand crabgrass preventers, such as Scott's, this contains “Dimensionâ€, which is the trade-name of a pre-emergent utilizing dithiopyr that works both as a pre-emergent and post-emergent for recently sprouted plants. That means that you can apply it later in the season because it kills crabgrass that has already emerged (unlike other pre-emergents) and it lasts longer. It is a pre-emergent ONLY (no fertilizer). You shouldn't put fertilizer down in the early spring anyway. It encourages top growth at the expense of root growth. Apply your fertilizer in late fall (after Thanksgiving), when the grass is dormant, and it will be there for the roots next spring. Then put down another dose of slow-release fertilizer in early June to help get the grass through the summer heat and another dose in early September.

We love this Hi-Yield Turf & Ornamental Weed and Grass Stopper. Have used it for several years and each year find fewer weeds popping up. Love that it lasts longer too than other products (e.g. Preen). Happy to have been able to buy it online since social distancing is in effect.
