Professional grade, great sound. This exact same instrument has been used in several popular songs (e.g., The Hooters, etc). Very nice zippered carrying case is included. Not a lot of money for a professional-grade musical instrument.

Let me start out by saying that this is my first melodica. I am an intermediate piano player looking to try something else. The instrument itself seems to play well, but I have nothing to which to compare it. It is louder than I expected, but not overwhelming. Given my understanding of the piano with its key layout (and my understanding of the supporting music theory), it didn't take me long to pick up some simple pieces on the instrument. But, it also didn't take more than 2-3 hours of playing for the highest G (equivalent to G5 on a piano) on the instrument to start gurgling or refusing to make sound. Clearly from fluid in the reed. Cleaning it by running water through it and then draining it out cleared the issue. But, curiosity caused me to open it up and I find that there are two air chambers that are pressurized by blowing on the mouthpiece. A larger chamber that is under the lower keys up to about that G and a smaller chamber that is for the upper few notes of the instrument above that. The spit valve is in the smaller chamber. There is no way to drain the larger chamber. The side channel that goes to the smaller chamber goes off at a right angle just inside the instrument where the mouthpiece attaches. So, almost all of the fluids enter and are trapped in the larger chamber. Seems like a poor design? Shouldn't there be a spit valve for each chamber?I agree with the other reviewers that the instrument could be packed better. The good news is it is packed inside the case which does offer some protection. It really is a nice case, better than I expected. But, the box it all comes in is flimsy and not sealed shut.Overall, it seems like a decent melodica if it survives shipping.

The quality of the product was poor, and it was packaged very poorly, picture is provided of the package when I got it first. Expected better quality.

A problem with shipping and packaging. It was not inside of a packing box. It just had the box that came with it, exposing what the item was etc. I also didn't like the fact that the package was left outside in the rain.I did open it and examined it well. Nothing seemed wrong but for peace of mind I made the return.Hohner is a good product though, and I like the sound of their reeds.
