This dial thermometer has a large face and a 12" probe that gives quick and accurate readings. Monitor the temperature easily by using the metal clip to attach to the lip of the mash tuna or boil kettle. Reads temperatures from 0 to 220 degrees Fahrenheit in two degree increments.

We purchased this to use for homebrewing when our previous thermometer was reading widely inaccurate. This one is accurate, the stem is long enough to use for smaller (2 gal) boils in a 20 quart pot, and long enough to use in a swamp cooler during fermentation. The numbers are clear and easy to read. The clip is strong and makes it super easy to attach on the side of the cooler or the pot, and also works well if you need to place the stem on an angle.

Worked flawlessly and was spot-on the first several times I used it. But I dropped it on the floor once by accident, and then it at boiling it read close to 218F instead of 212F while my digital unit from the same manufacturer reads 212F. I'm wondering if I can re-calibrate it with the nut that sits behind the dial.... :-UPDATE: As it turns out, the nut does allow calibration. So now it works perfectly again. To reflect my happiness, I've added one star to give it a 5-star rating.

I use this thermometer on my 10 gal Hot Liquor Tank for my Strike/Sparge water. It's relative accurate, it's relatively cheap, and it works. Make sure your kettle is tall enough to take this baby before you buy.Actually, this thing is awesome when you consider that the alternative is drilling yet another dang hole through ANOTHER S/S kettle for a side-mounted thermometer. With this guy here, I don't need to modify the stock pot, I just use this clip-on thermometer and a 1-qt Pyrex measuring cup (measuring quart?) for my dough-in proteolytic/saccarification rests.Someone else said it fogged up at 212 F. I didn't have this problem, but I don't see how it matters, seeing as though the laws of physics dictate that the temperature of liquid H2O can never exceed the boiling point (and that only boiling water is generally ever added for subsequent step infusions anyhow).

I've had this thermometer for almost 2 years now and it's been really solid. Clip is sturdy and holds to the side of my kettle well. Dial reads pretty quickly for being analog. Long enough for my mashes.

When it arrived, it did not read the temperature accurately. I had to calibrate it manually. It seems like it may operate as intended now.

This is a very nice sturdy thermometer with a long stem. Stainless steel with a large dial. We do not brew beer, but have used it for testing Turkey to see if it is done and for candy making. We also plan to use it for candle making since the glass ones keep breaking.

My old digital thermometer I used for my wort broke and digital timers are expensive, so I thought I'd go with this because it's cheaper & since it's an "official" brewing thermometer, it'd work just fine.I put this in my kettle when I first turned on the heat and read inaccurately. I know traditional timers are slower than digital, so I gave it like 30 minutes. It read my kettle was at 150° when I knew it was way hotter. Luckily, my wife nagged me to buy a replacement digital thermometer for when we cook meat. I threw that in and it immediately read 175°! That sounded right. I gave it some more time and once the digital read 212° the wort starting boiling, perfectly on cue! This thermometer read 180°. I was blown away about how worthless this thing is!! I brewed another beer just yesterday and the same thing happened again.I thought I'd save money by not buying a digital thermometer, but ended up wasting money because this is so slow & inaccurate. Trust me, spend the extra $10 and get a digital.

Bought for homebrewing and works great. As I was heating up water for the mash and later cooling the wort I used my digital infrared thermometer and directed the laser at the tip of the 1 X Brewcraft 12" Ss' Dial Thermometer which appeared to read the same temperature that the digital one was indicating. I'm satisfied with this product and would recommend it.
