OK. If you are handy you can do this. If not pay the $120 to have it put together for you. It will look like a $800+ piece when it's assembled. I took my time and spent about 6 hrs over two evenings and a few beers, although someone who does it a lot could do it in 2 hours. It fits great in a smaller kitchen that needs some counter space and storage. The drawers are minimal so don't expect much, but the cabinet space is more valuable anyway! I got black with black granite as I have dark granite already and read the reviews of people who got wood or stainless tops and wished they'd payed for the granite. Tools: drill or electric screw driver for Phillips head screws and Allen wrench bit. My drill has a clutch on it so it won't tighten too much and crack the wood. If yours doesn't then tighten the last bit by hand. I used "liquid nails" or glue of choice on any part that has male to female wood dowels. This way it will never get wobbly or weak. If you do this it is permanent and you have to act fairly quickly when assembling your part. As other reviewers have stated: take your time and follow directions step by step. This was my first furniture assembly. If you don't you could make a mess of this if you use any kind of glue. I found that everything worked as directed. Drawers are harder to put together, but only because it is tedious. I have two tips: 1) the instructions tell you to put both (two locking wheels) on front. I put one in front and one in opposite side back for more stopping power. 2) I had the same problem lots have had with the drawers scrubbing / too close to the granite top. I used round felt adhesive barstool floor protectors (Amazon or any hardware store) cut in half on each corner. Then place your granite on top and Wollah the drawers slide perfect. It is literally only 1/8" off out of the box. As for packaging, they arrived good. Two Very heavy boxes. The granite was boxed inside styrofoam with wood surround. Not one chip despite the crumpled corners of the box. The cabinet comes from Indonesia and the granite from China. Not for sure it's granite but it is heavy and nice. One last and important tip : the back is the most difficult to assemble and the top back stretch... Or easier ...just the top back wood piece, assembles counter intuitively with no help from directions. There is a counter sunk hole for a bolt in the middle that you would think goes inside the cabinet. It should face the outside of the cabinet, but by the time I realized my glue was locked tight. They supply wooden dowels for the counter sinks to hide the bolts on the outside of the cabinet. Lastly, as for all the complaints about missing parts, I must say... All parts with one extra of each were individually wrapped and labeled. I was thoroughly impressed as my wife and I went through the parts and diligently checked them off the instruction sheet before starting assembly. This is a great island for the money. Looks awesome and I received NO discount for this review. Just like to help because your reviews help me. Buy it and prosper.
