This works great to prevent rubs from blanket binding. It's a durable material and, as it drapes over the shoulders, the fit is good. It comes with a strap that should secure it but this. if worn alone, would not stay on any of our horses for very long. Under a blanket or sheet, it stays on properly with the weight of the blanket keeping it in place.For the price, it's a handy item to have on hand for blanket season.

Quality: This shoulder guard was a perfect solution for my horse’s medium blanket that can rub him a little tighter in the shoulder. It was very lightweight and breathable, so it wouldn’t add weight if it was used under a sheet. It gave off a bit of static, so it clung to him as I put it on, but that’s nothing new for blankets in the winter. The fabric seems strong enough to last for a while, and also easy to clean.Size & Fit: The fit was perfectly sized. Something like this needs to be secure enough to not rotate while the horse is wearing it under a blanket, but also loose enough to not rub any one spot. My horse is a thoroughbred, so he’s relatively large-withered and sharply shouldered, and this fits great for him. In the past I’ve used stretchy lycra shoulder guards with a buckle underneath, and I think this looser, thinner type is a much better fit for him, personally.

First of all, I refer to this as my horse's sports bra, so there's that. I actually purchased this because I have a high withered saddlebred. Her blankets never fit right and they always rub against her chest because her shoulders are narrow. I decided to order this and give this a try. For $20 it was a cheap temporary solution. I do wish it had more straps on it though to hold it on. There's one strap, but it actually doesn't come with instructions, and it's a slide on strap. I ended up sliding one of her front buckles through it to keep it on, but I think it would be better if it had some clips that came with it so I could clip it to the neck rings on her jacket. I'm not sure how well it will work or how long it'll last because it's the beginning of winter. I just put it on her last week. I know how to sew and I ordered with the idea that I probably would modify this somehow to add some additional straps or velcro or something. It is a great helpful idea, but product needs some tweaking in my opinion. Especially if your horse goes outside and is an animated horse like mine.

Unfortunately, the only picture I have of this is in "the bag" and not in use. I put this on my mare, under her blanket, as her big shoulders are prone to rubbing, despite trying so many different brands of blanket. This shoulder guard seemed to fit well, but was gone the next day. I can only assume it tore and blew away in the wind, or rode up and fell off her head as she grazed. There was nothing to help "anchor" the bib in place, which would be helpful since it's so so lightweight.

I bought this to have on hand as I have 2 young horses that are growing and their angles can change suddenly and make a well fitted turnout start to rub suddenly. It's a great deal at this price point and fits as expected. It is very thin but that is fine for me as it won't add additional bulk. In the picture it is on my 14.3 hand 2 year old filly and fits her comfortably with room to grow. I can not speak to how well it holds up yet but it meets my expectations.
