To give perspective, I own other electric scooters including one with shocks, inflatable tires, 2 wheel drive, that tops out at 40 mph. I stopped using this to commute because it is too heavy to lift off the ground and get into the train I take into work. But I think my experience will give you added perspective on which scooter to choose for what purpose. This scooter here is much easier to lift at about half the weight of my larger scooter. This one's function is better for commuting short distances. Some advantages of this scooter:1. Easier to carry/weighs less than a scooter with shocks and a large battery2. Tires aren't air filled so no worries about flats.3. Smaller battery = faster charge times than a larger scooter.4. Tire wear seems pretty good considering I need to ride it over bridges with steel grated surfaces.5. Folded, the retention clip is really nice and works well to keep it folded even when picked up and carrying it on and off the train.6. The kickstand works great.7. Display is clear and gives you all the details you need.8. Maneuverability is perfect for high pedestrian traffic areas like streets around the train station and sidewalks around your office. It will move you at a jogging pace at full speed but if you throttle it halfway, you can match pace with walkers.9. Lighting: This has both a headlight and a functioning brake light.Disadvantages:1. It's still heavy and awkward to carry any more than a few feet. The handlebar catches on everything if you aren't careful.2. On a full charge I get 7 or 8 miles out of the battery. Not bad but you probably need to charge it mid-week. My commute is 2.3 miles RT/day and I try to charge it Tuesday night or risk walking it home Weds after work.4. No key is included so you'll need to lock it up.5. Tires are hard so I walk it when I cross the train tracks. Bridges with grate like surfaces are not fun either and you may feel like your fillings will be coming out. It's manageable but not enjoyable.6. Handlebar stem clamp is tight. It looks like there is a set screw to make it easier to push the detent clip down but out of the box, I struggle with pushing down this retaining clip enough to fold down the stem clamp. I think the tolerances are pretty tight so when I ride to the train in the morning and it's a little cold, the tolerances are even tighter. The process is: Swing the clip over to the side, push down on the retention clip, and at the same time, pull down on the stem clamp. If you are in a rush because you're late or the train is early this process can be stressful on a cold morning. I've cut my finger on these parts trying to rush and force it.7. Speed: It's slow. On a paved, flat road it will do 14mph. Uphill even on a slight incline it drops to 11mph. I'm in Chicago so all we have are slight hills and I'm pretty sure this will have issues with any significant hill.8. Acceleration: Super slow.9. Lighting: While it has a headlight and brake light, neither scream out for attention. In conclusion: this scooter is a good no-nonsense commuter. It's light enough to lift onto the train and small enough to slide under the seat. If you can lift 2 gallons of milk, you can lift this. It isn't overpowered so you can maneuver amongst walking commuters in busy areas. If the goal is to get you to the train and save you a 15 min walk in the August heat, then this is a great solution. But because it is fairly basic, you lose some options that a larger scooter has such as: speed, acceleration, shocks/air filled tires = comfort and better stability, short distance range, no key, limited lighting for visibility.

I live in the mountains of northern PA in a very small town. The one thing we are known for is our fireworks display. When I say small town our population is less than 1000 people. Except for 4th of July weekend. Our town is set in a valley with a river running through the center. There are two creeks that come together and this is followed by a damn creating a large lake in the valley with a peninsula park. Even though we are a small town we have a fireworks display that consistently ranks in the top 3 in PA. We also have a carnival with many vendors and live music in the center town park. Our population for this weekend jumps to 20,000 or more and seems to be getting bigger every year. This is great for our local economy but getting around town is almost impossible because of the traffic. I saw this and thought it might be the perfect solution. I was surprised at how sturdy and well made this is when I first pulled it out of the box. Assembly was very easy and it even came partially charged so I had it up and running for a test ride in no time. I'm 5'10" and weigh around 190 lbs. The handle bars are high enough that I didn't have to bend over at all to hold onto them. On flat ground it had good exceleration and was impressed with the speed. The big question I had was whether it would be able to pull my weight uphill. It's winter time here so I had to wait for a dry day with no snow on the streets to try it out. I live at the top of a very steep hill and didn't know if it would be able to pull me up but I was surprised at how well it did. The hill is a couple blocks long and it pulled me up fairly well. The only time I had trouble was pulling up my driveway which is even steeper. I did have to give it a bit of help but I was still impressed with how well it performed. I like the lights it has and it looks really cool lit up. I think this will work quite well for running around town especially on our big weekend.

I acquired this scooter to use to commute on my college campus located in the Midwest. Our winters are no joke, which sadly takes a beating on this scooter as it greatly reduces the battery performance. It doesn’t do the best on hills and I have avoided taking it out in the rain in fear of ruining the motor and bearings. Bumps in the sidewalk can be jarring as the small diameter air filled tires don’t have much space for cushioning these impacts. I would only recommend this scooter for distances shorter than advertised, light riders, and in locations with generally warmer weather.
