These cables just works great! As an added bonus they are actualy longer so now I don't have to worry about stressing the wire!

This is a great replacement power cord for our Shark NV501! Easy to install and pleased with the results. Only with it would have come with a new protective shield or sleeve as shown in the image. It's the thicker sleeve that protects the power cord where it enters the housing. That wasn't included. The one on the Vacuum is damaged. Next time will try to find that part and order it as well. Otherwise, perfect!

After our new puppy chewed the cord it was either replace the vac or try to replace the cord. One thing I would do different is get better wire connectors. I just used what I had which worked but due to limited space inside the vac it would have been better to solder and use some shrink wrap. Either way much cheaper to fix myself instead of replacing the vac, for a $200-$300 vac it wouldn't be worth paying someone to fix it. You may get lucky if you search your vac's model number for info on taking apart. I found similar models and just started unscrewing, probably took more screws out than I needed but take pics on the phone as you go and it'll help.

It amazes me that people review this and ask for directions on how to install it. It is an electrical cord that can fit many applications. If you don't know how to install it, don't buy it. This cord works fine. However, it is very stiff and kinks. So was the original in my Shark vacuum.

First of all, the company that makes this vacuum did all they could to make repairs difficult. You will need an extended reach T15 Torx “security†bit to remove about 12 screws. Although there was a hidden retention feature near the on/off switch, I was able to get the housings far enough apart to gain access to the internal power wires. I snipped the positive and neutral wires, pulled off the existing rubber sleeve/grommet and fished the new cord in, using a few drops of dishwashing liquid as a lubricant. I then attached the stripped Ends of the new cord with permanent squeeze nuts that I had on hand, and tucked the cord into place, keeping clear of screw posts. Then reassembled all the screws. The new cord seems to be made of durable outer casing and it should hold up better than the original. I did this repair for a friend, but would certainly not buy a Shark Vacuum, since they are not designed for serviceability.

The product works, but it is somewhat unwieldy and hard to coil nicely. I suspect that may have something to do with the lack of ribs running the length of the cord on the original. Not a big surprise for the price. Not that it reflects on the rating of the product per se, but I can't believe there are reviews that say it's easy to install. To use on the model Shark Rotator vacuum cleaner I have, you have to nearly completely disassemble the device, attach new connectors, and reassemble. This is serious stuff with mains voltage landing several mm apart from other conductors, via connectors you attach to the wire. This is upstream of the switch, so even if the unit is off, it only needs to be plugged in for an internal short to cause a major problem. If you don't have an informed understanding of electricity and electrical wiring, do not attempt. And apart from the electrical risks, there's a chance you'll end up with degraded suction if you don't manage to fit everything back together nicely.

Very easy to install and I think it is actually longer than the original one.
