My house's previous MEDO LA-80BN piston air pump lasted exactly 20 years sitting directly on the ground, and only died due to being completely submerged in rain water. This new MEDO piston pump runs so quiet and puts out a ton of air. I, seriously, can barely hear it when I stand right next to it in the quite nighttime. If you install it up off of the ground, and keep it covered to protect it from the Sun and elements, it can last for decades. These MEDO piston air pumps may cost more up front than a rubber diaphragm air pump (RDAP), but will cost you way less than a RDAP in the end due to its longevity and superior performance. Definitely a smart buy.

I use this as an aerator pump in our septic system. It was installed over 12 years ago and has run continuously non-stop. Until the last year, it has run quiet and problem free, with a filter clean-up about 2 times per year (5 minute task). Over the last year, it got a little louder and ran warm. It finally gave out and couldn't keep a high enough pressure. I happily replaced it this week and will happily buy again in the next decade!

It was so easy to replace my old aerator with this new one. Took all of a few minutes, plugged it in and it was running. Very quiet running and I am sure it will last many years. 1/2 the price of what my local service provider wanted for the same machine.

Absolutely love this pump. I am using it to power air stones in about 40 aquariums and it is night and day how much quieter it is than my previous set up that consisted of 10 4-outlet diaphragm pumps. In fact in my opinion it is quieter than just a single one of my old pumps.

Very, very quiet and works very well. I’ve had it about four months now and so far it’s proven to be better than any other pump I’ve purchased in the past. I know it’s more expensive, but it seems to be worth paying a bit more to get a better quality pump. I hope it last for several years to come. The last one I bought only lasted a little less than two years.
